I'm going to play it for a few days without doing it, but I will definitely "greenify" it. I see a pickup swap in the future anyway. Depending on which guitar I'll end up using the most it might get the Throbak PG-102 set that I currently have in the Derek Trucks SG, but that remains to be seen. No matter what pickups I end up using, I want the out of phase sound in the middle position.:D

Yeah, I’m considering removing the pickguard. If it were a burst, I’d already have taken it off, but I kind of like the pickguard on goldtops. We’ll see...:D

Can't say enough good about Thro-Bak. I'm running two sets of their SLE-101's in my Doublneck.

Best overall tones I've ever had on any of my guitars.

I liked them so much, I bought a pair for my SG...

They are really comfortable to me for cowboy chords but I find them too meaty to play fast accurately. I prefer the medium sized necks on LPs and Slim Tapers on SGs.

My 2016 Gibson SG T Series has the wide neck with .951" first fret thickness. It's one of the reason

I didn't buy the MXV version. That's the high-output version. I am using the original SLE-101's...they have to be ordered...

Thanks! Actually I top wrapped simply because the stop bar was screwed all the way down to the body when I got it, and it was screwed down pretty tight, so just left it there. I had to top wrap in order for the strings to clear the edge of the bridge and rest on the saddles only. But I guess it does make for slightly easier bending. The guitar certainly feels comfortable to play, so i'll just leave it like this.
 
I FINALLY got to play the guitar plugged today! It sounds SWEET through the Gibson Skylark amp. I was expecting it to sound different from the Derek Trucks SG, but the difference was a lot bigger than I expected. The amp is really bright, so I have to turn down the tone controls on the SG to around 4 to find my sweet spot. With the Goldtop 8 is fine. I suppose pickup placement has something to do with it, and I guess the different electronics have something to do with it as well. The pickups are different too, but I've played the amp with 57 Classics before, and still had to turn down the tone control more then. ANYWAY, I really like what I'm hearing. I have a feeling I'll try putting the Throbak PG-102s in the Goldtop, to see what they will sound like in a different guitar. No matter what pickups I end up with I will need something with the Peter Green mod, because I miss the out of phase sound already!:D

I have one LP, and it has a set of '57 Classics. Love these pups in my LP. I also have a G&L ASAT Bluesboy with a SD Seth Lover in the neck... and I love this unpotted pup, too. So it would be interesting to me in how you get along with the Seth Lover as a bridge pup in your LP... ???

So far, so good! I have only played the guitar for about an hour through the Skylark, so my judgement is based on very little, but I have to say I like it a lot. I have not fiddled with pickup height, it has been left like it was when I unpacked the guitar. I have changed strings, set the guitar up to my liking and adjusted the intonation, but the pups are untouched. I have to say the sound is nicely balanced between the pups. without having done a proper comparison, it seems to me the SD is not as bright as a 57 Classic in the bridge, which I think might make for a more tonally balanced pair when it is used together with a 57 Classic in the neck. Not a particularly bassy pickup, but some smooth highs and fine mids. Mind you, this is the first time I have ever played a SD Seth Lover, so my experience is extremely limited. But I like what I hear. I have only played the guitar at one volume setting on the amp so far (about 4, which is where the 10 watt Skylark starts breaking up nice and sweet), but the SD SL cleans up well when the volume on the guitar is turned down a few notches.
