SO what did YOU do with your last day of 2017????

I did many things as I do most days as I am hyper active and multitask constantly -- however while doing at least 4 other things --- the wife and I managed to complete our grandsons Christmas present (One of the boys is autistic) and an ACTIVITIES board is supposed to be a good thing for them to do ---

SO we made one. :)

Chalkboard on one side ....all sorts of things to keep busy minds ---well BUSY --- on the other
--in this shot I had not added the baskets that hold the chalk
lots of sawing and drilling and attaching of things to open and slide and push and spin ....

So what DID you all DO today???

After breakfast I went out to shovel the driveway which had been blocked by the snowplow sometime during the night. There was a row of ice blocks cemented together about two feet high. On my third shovel full I tweaked my back and almost fell down from the pain. As I was standing there contemplating how I was going to get the driveway clear a neighbour showed up with his new snowblower. Even the heavy duty snowblower struggled with the ice. I guess I owe him a beer or two. After lunch I spent a couple of hours playing with some song ideas and my Boss looper. Played some chords on my 12 string, added a simple bass track, then some arpeggios on the Squier Strat. It’s starting to sound half decent. It’s a simple I, II7, IV, I progression. Just need to figure some lyrics and a chorus now. Decided to sit in the Laz-e-boy and nap for bit. Pretty good day so far except for the sore back. May need a few beers myself to fix that.

Happy New Year everyone.

Well done Kerry ........what is this "ice and snow" thing you speak of???? ;)

We got 60 cm (two feet) in a little over 24 hours. This was accompanied by 50 kph (30 mph) winds. The drifts were pretty deep. This morning we woke up to clear blue skies. Everyone is digging out before the next storm hits. It will be a real mess if the next one is rain.

yes I remember those days-----I grew up just outside Cleveland Ohio --- where Canada sends its LAKE EFFECT SNOW to vacation :)

---this is why I left Ohio in '87 and have not been back ;) ---well that and several warrants and a county investigation........but I digress....

...let's see? I walked around the neighborhood with the family. Prepared, cooked and ate Filet Mignon. Set up the Karaoke and chilled the beer.
The singing will commence as soon as I get a buzz going...working on that right now.

Happy New Year everyone.

Thankfully, I only had to sweep a dusting of snow from the driveway.
I still hit the recliner for the evening....safety.

Mine is old school, with the removable handle...to bludgeon any threatening trespassers with.

Happy New Year!

Made Nachos, Cranberry Salsa and pop corn to chow on with the Grandkids. Ages 2, 9, 11. 2 year old didn’t make it. The other two are still sitting up at 12:30 central. Grandpas about ready to call it and head to bed.

I relaxed. Me and the wife had a nice G&T in front of the fire before I started preparing dinner. We had the traditional cured mutton rib with mashed rutabaga again. After dinner we just sat around talking and relaxing until midnight. It was pissing down outside, but me and my two boys still went out to set off the obligatory fireworks. After that we went home, had a glass of sparkling and went to bed. A very nice and easy day.

Not in any particular order except for the first couple.

Woke up, got outta bed, no comb across my head (no hair up there).
Looked out a westerly window (no mushroom clouds in sight...WIN!).
Played some guitar, Played some World of Warcraft, Played with dog.
Made home made chicken salad, made some overdue phone calls.
Visited neighbors, cleaned all 19 feet of kitchen counters.
Happy because I do NOT accept New Years eve gigs.

All in all, typical day for me.

My hole subdivision was blocked off due to a house fire the photos in the news were from my yard A lady from down the street was driving by and saw smoke got the kids out of the burning house
she is a true hero The police had all streets blocked off my friend Lisa could not visit it was 1 degree outside 5 hours later they let Lisa in to my house. Now it snowed 6" it will hide that burned up mess for awhile. The plow grader just went by and left a large snow berm time to fire up the snow blower. Happy New Year.
