Let's Talk Bass

How good are you at playing the bass? I started with a 5 string. Although I did not stick with it very long, I got the feeling that I would not have use for the 5th string for quite some time. Based on my limited experience, I would get the Peavey, which is very nice.

I started off playing bass when I was 13 or 14. It was a Silvertone replica of McCartney's Hoffner. In the mid 90's when I met my current wife, our son owned a short scale bass that I would play and show him some licks. So coming back to a bass would be coming back home full circle. Seeing as how the 6 string is the same tuning as a standrd 6 string guitar E-B-G-D-A-E I think it would be easy for me to play some of the same stuff I've been playing for the past few years. Only draw back about bass is those heavy strings. I have just begun playing again after a long break and my fingers get sore playing my acoustic, but Burla feels sweet. Burla now lives at here work and is my lunch break buddy.

I like the Peavey too, y'all know how I feel about wood grain over paint. The SX also has some funky extra holes drilled into the head stock. I just received a 15% discount coupon at home and I'm gonna see if I can apply it to this bass.

Keep that amp ready for me Chris!!! I just may need it soon. Oh yeah, can I hide the amp and bass at your work so Mrs. Wav doesn't toss me into the dog house?

GRANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
----I mean this in all sincere honest and the most loving way I can say this IF YOU DONT BUY THAT DAMN PEAVEY I WILL----- like seriouslty RIGHT NOW---

I have been looking for a PAtriot to round out my PEAVEY collective---

actuaLLY THAT one has been altered-- so not good for the Peavey MUSEUM --- but I can tel you --- you will not find a better USA MADE hunk of bass for that price EVER anywhere else!

There are two Peavey, and one Washburn bass guitars living under my roof right now. They all are stellar players. The Peaveys, in particular, have been rock solid through decades of abuse. I would go for a Peavey 4 string Patriot in a heartbeat given the choice you present in this thread.

PEavey basses become an obsession......like potato chips cant have just one.......I cant tell you how many I have now----really ---I am ashmed--- they are breeding around here ...Grant.........Im am shopping on ebay for OTHER THINGS to keep me from buying that Peavey you posted ........really thats hot---never seen one with a tortoise PG !!!!! lust.....Im in LUST ----GAS ---is growing------

FYI Grant
the FIRST PEavey I OWNED (bass wise) was a Patriot.......and my LOVE of Peavey bass.......has ....well ---lets face it its LEGENDARY at this point ----
not my playing or anything --- just the length I will go to SCORE a PEavey bass.......lol

I traded a BC Rich Eagle ---with case--- for the Patriot because the band needed a bass player..........and the rest--------history
FYI I have NEVER once regretted the trade ----I wish I still had the Eagle --- but never regretted the trade :)

I hope she is a good one for you grant------
i LOVE my Peaveys ---- the necks are stellar --- the ability to tilt adjust the neck with the set screw (like some of the Fender line) is amazing at getting the EXACT and precise string height and playability -----on a BASS--- that is not always an easy task.

I love the pick guard --- and the 2 JB pups give you INFINITE options for replaceability if you dont like the tone.
