So, Frosty, I had a bit of 'random' listen through the stuff you've been posting here - that's quite a bit. What's the background story here, do you create it all yourself? Canned beats/backing tracks? I sort of guesstimate you're doing the guitars. There's some funky sounding jamming, hehe - but are there like any 'songs'?

Thank you for the clarification of your post. I sorta got the wrong impression as well. It's just one of the issues with typed message. It's difficult to express feeling and intention in the typed word vs verbal and in person.

Everyone here at TTR knows that @frostyjr2 strictly posts instrumental "songs", and each song has a song title of its own. She has unquestionable street cred here at TTR.

It's entirely possible that I would have understood your meaning had it not been for that little "hehe" you included.

Generally, I'll do a little digging before I ask a question. In this case I didn't actually hunt through biographies and past threads. I checked the links in her signature and in the initial post in the thread. Thanks for your explanation on her behalf, that's sorted then.

I see how something like that can be ambiguous without an appropriate emoji. Even then, one can read sarcasm into practically everything.

I'll frame this one as a joke so that there's no misunderstanding and use an emoji for clarity: :)

"If you're the ambassador of the 9th chord, could you perhaps show me the way to the 4th one?"

It's all good. We get a bit protective of our resident Jazz aficionado. @frostyjr2 brings a touch of culture to TTR and heaven knows this place can't be hurt with some culture to smooth the rough edges.

Just seeing this now, sorry.
If i had gotten to reply earlier, we might have avoided a minor bump in the road, but all's well that ends well, i suppose.

The way i look at it, if what i'm doing doesn't stand up to reasonable scrutiny/inquiry, then i need to do better.
Still, this might be a good chance to explain/clarify what it is that i do and how i do it.

i do post pretty much exclusively instrumental music; my original material exists on the ambient prog/ jazzy neofusion/ spacey triphop side of things, and it's usually created by layering successive improvised tracks with no real pre-planning and very little in the way of post-production.
It's all about capturing the feeling of the moment for me.
i'm usually playing the guitars and the bass, as well as some ambient synthy pad stuffs here and there.
The drum parts are created a number of different ways: there's some native stuff from the DAW i'm working in, various external drum machines which i either program or trigger samples with in real time by playing the pads, and there are also some tracks that feature *gasp* real live drummers.

i studied jazz guitar performance and audio engineering at university; at a certain point i realised that i'd never write songs like Cole Porter, or Jimmy Van Heusen, or Elvis Costello ... but that i didn't have to, because i had the entire Great American Songbook at my disposal to make up for that fact.
So, if you want to hear some song form, head over to the Jazz & Blues area where i have a thread titled 'OK, i'm here!' ... that's where you'll hear me playing over some canned backing tracks, but there are also some things i work up from scratch.
