What should I do???

Forum brothers & sister, I need advice.
My wife bought a new car today.
Do I keep my 2016 Challenger?
Or keep her 2013 Volvo C70?

Here's the dilemma, The Volvo is no doubt a superior car.
And also worth more than the Challenger, as it's the last year of the retractable tops and only
has 18k miles on it. It's hard to find a comparison as there are so few around, and the ones I do see have over 50k miles and are a couple of years older.
The Challenger is newer, much cooler looking and has just under 10k miles on it.
But it's a stripper base model with zero options. Thousands of them for sale.

What would be the better option for me???
Financially and practically? Oh wait this is a gear forum, we're not practical...
Any car dealers among the forum family?
I'd hate to let that clean and babied Volvo get away, but I also dig my Challenger.

Tough choice.:hmmm:

I'm NOT the car pro you know, but if you can afford any repair bills that may come up for the Volvo I'd keep the volvo and let the Challenger go based on what you stated: thousands of Challengers out there and not only is the Volvo worth more and has the retractable tops. Sounds like if push comes to shove you could sell/trade the Volvo for another hot rod if you wanted to.

Hack, I can share with you my Volvo experience. My wife and I owned three different Volvos: a S60, S40, and the station wagon (forgot the numbers/letters...V70?).
All of ours were made between 2004 and 2011. Despite their "superior" reputation, each vehicle required frequent maintenance beyond the usual oil/fluid and tire changes. As soon as the warrantees ran out,
each one required maintenance that averaged around $800 per problem. We sold them, bought Toyotas, and never looked back. My 4Runner is a 2012 and has yet to experience one single issue.
I don't know Dodge's reliability, but I can say with sincerity that I will never own another Volvo again.

That's another point, still 2 years of warranty on the Challenger...
Damn, This is hard...

would sell the one I could the closest to actual value out of and is their a big difference in your insurance on the
Volvo vs the challenger I'm sure the challenger is higher but how much.
Insurance is close to the same on both. $36 difference every 6 months. We're both old farts.
KBB on the Challenger is 18- 22k. I payed just over 20k new.
KBB on the Volvo is 22k. It was 40k new.

The Challenger will continue to drop value with age & milage.
I think the Volvo is through depreciating till it gets more miles or I wreck it.

That's what makes this such a difficult decision.

Hack----

If it where me --- Id go Volvo -- I know the DODGE is cool--- but --- I also know the 2 dodges I ever owned.....after the 60-80,000 mile mark ---where complete crap --- never worked 100% and gave me constant problems and reliability issues.....for as much as you drive --- the Volvo would last many years-----sure repair costs are high on the Volvo but I doubt they will occur as often......

HEre ya go----I got it----

Send me the Challenger. ;) Problem solved lol

But if the Dodge is crap, I couldn't do that to you, brother.

The other option is keep them both, as they're both paid for.
Then Patti won't have to give up the retractable and I just keep my Dodge.
Just running out of garage space.
I'll have to clean and re organize the garage to get 2 cars in there.
Right now it's the Volvo, 6 bicycles, a toolbox and a reloading bench.
Whatever I drive lives in the carport.

lol
well for a free challenger I could "muddle through" buwahahhaaa....

If you keep both and rotate the driving--- they should both last many years--- your not putting huge miles on ---- I traded in my 2015 Soul for a Forte --- had the soul 2 years had almost 70k on the clock ---

AND here is a GEM of info I didnt know---- the warranty was 100,000 miles --- from the selling dealer --NOT from KIA --- so essentially I had a 60,000 mile warranty-- I was OUT of warranty after 2 years------

ugh

In the back of my mind, If one does go, the practical side of me would probably loose the Challenger.
But Goldmembers experiences with several Volvo's has me doubting if loosing the Challenger would be the best option.
I'd know that I'd feel odd driving a Volvo.

Keep both----

Make the Dodge your Muscle Car toy--- MOD the poop out of it --- go race for PINKS! ----take the Volvo for groceries and to lunch at the Pho joint--- or the new Irish Pub in Brandon ;)

Just being completely honest. A good friend of mine has two fully paid-off S40s...if one is not having problems, the other is.
Volvo IMHO is a money pit, just like hanging on to an aging BMW. At least with the Dodge, you can easily find parts.

Sounds like you answered you own question to me. Keep both. There's nothing wrong with keeping both if you can afford it. More power to ya, man.

On second thought a hr drive not enough time its to tough a decision . Now maybe by the time you load up
5.000 9mm rounds and 1 k 38's and another 500 357's for me ya might have it sorted out.
Funny you should mention that Frank, Just loaded a couple hundred 9mm, and a hundred rounds of 38+p.
Have about 50 rounds of .357 already to go.

If you know anyone that wants a Lee 7.62 x 39 die set, I'd be glad to set them up.
Got rid of my SKS's a couple of years ago.

Never fall in love with a car and do not hoard cars. They are liabilities...always. Even of paid off, they are depreciating jusy sitting there...then there is insurance...maintenance...risk of damage(dents in the street/flooding/etc.)..risk of theft. Pick one and sell it. The decision is difficult because it is close - so flip a coin.

SEe---SEND IT TO ME ;)

just trying to help ya out man lol

I'll throw in a slightly used Chester ;)
