LP Tribute refinish, take 2...

I'm just not liking any of the knobs. I'm looking for something else.
Just a thought…I have something else in mind that they would work wonderfully with…

I looked at those, too....they might work. :hmmm: I hope I can find something other than speed knobs. Weird thing is, I don't even know why I don't like speed knobs, I just don't. I might have to live with them for the look though.

Tits on a RitZ !

Just for shits and grins I did a quick mock up. I think it's going to probably look better with cream plastics.

Well, it's taking a slightly different turn now. lol! I got the switch installed. :coffee2:Tomorrow I'll get it going. I need to hit up GC for some strings or I might have done it tonight. I'm just going to put a bridge pickup in it with the dummy neck pickup for now so I can play it. I'm going with option D for now because I have everything on hand to do it. I may do something else later, but for now I just want to get it back up and running. I've got plans that hinge on being able to play this one. I have to say, when I got this under my bench light to put in the bullet casing I couldn't believe all the scratches that showed up in the finish. The pics don't show it, but it's horrible in good light, not the color, the color it fine, it's the clear coat that's all scratched up. I don't know what happened, but I'm not going to worry about it right now....or ever, lol.

BTW the bullet casing has sentimental value, it was given to me by a good friend just for this guitar and for this reason many years ago. I kind of like the idea of keeping it in the switch hole for that reason. I know it's silly, but I like it and even if I do end up with a neck pickup wired in, I think the switch will be moved to the normal neck volume spot and it will have 2 volumes and a master tone control like I had it wired before.

Haha, welcome back baby! :celebrate2: Man I've had a blast playing her again, I've missed this guitar more than I realized!

Anyway, this is just a temporary set up, I took these pickups right out of my Traditional and put them in here with the cream rings still on them. They're my Jim Wagners. Only the bridge is hooked up with a volume knob ATM and I just stuck a dome knob on it because I didn't want to press a knob on just yet. I'm not sure about the cream rings, they are kind of bright, but I am sure about the pickups, they sound great! So if I stick with the cream I'll need to order a few things. I like the cream, but I think it's only because of the faux binding, if it wasn't for that I would be using black plastics for sure...and I still might.

I just ordered a wiring harness for it (RS Guitarworks) along with a new switch and jack. I'll be losing the bullet and wiring it up normal.

I'm already getting my Traditional ready to sell...or trade in. I went to GC today for some strings and they just happen to have a Satin Honeyburst P90 Tribute hanging on the rack. I didn't play it...I was scared to...but I can't stop thinking about it. :hmmm:

I like it with the black rings, I just think it would look better with double black pickups with them. Only problem is now that I have these pickups in it (bridge anyway) I know I want these pickups in it and I don't have (nor do I want to spend right now anyway) the almost $400 it would cost to replace them with black ones right now.
