Dose anyone know what can cause this?

I dont want to hear (they are made overseas cheap bla bla) … this amp has been good to me… ive giged across Uk and never let me down.

Maybe time to change valves?

Thanks for your input

Unplug the guitar cable turn up the volume controls
does it still make noises?

Plug a guitar cable between send and return. does it still make the same noises?

Take out the first preamp tube
the tube which is closest to the input jack.
Now turn it back on same as before.
Does it still make the noises?

Sound is back now ….

I have plugged directly into amp when it was doing that but nothing….

Ive turned it on/off few times and sound came back.

I have not gone inside as i dont know what im doing or what to look for.

This might be opening a Pandora’s Box…:

Was your amp thoroughly inspected?

Did the tube fail on its own because of age and use? Sometimes it’s necessary to replace the screen grid resistor that is tied directly to the failed power tube.

What’s the condition and age of the other three power tubes?

If you purchase only one EL34, how close will it match the other three in transconductance and the biasing of its current? The specs can be within a 10% margin.

Can you afford a replacement of all four power tubes?

If the amp’s phase inverter tube is also an old tube, this would be a good time to replace it too. The phase inverter tube is the hardest working tube in the circuit.

You can always keep the replaced tubes as spares and/or backups.

Your Marshall-branded EL34 looks like a JJ tube. Buy your tubes from a trusted vendor that does full comprehensive testing of the tubes you’re about to buy.

Good luck, Ramo… :fingersx:

Hey man thanks for your input.

I dont know how well he inspect it but I trust him. Last time he had he did say one of the valves was doggy.

Tube failed due to age, Ive had this amp 5+ years and its been working hard.

^^^ I dont know whats that.

Im planning to replace all 4 at the same time. Vendor im buying it from they are reputable company and I think they are biggest tube suppliers in Uk.

They recommended me Svetlana tube…. I had downstairs neighbour called Svetlana and now have her in my amp? Mind blowing…..

Im keeping old ones as spare just in case…

I post link below one they recommended and one im thinking to get.

Thats their recommendation

And thats mine

Welcome! Looks like you got a good plan.

The phase inverter tube is the hardest working tube in the circuit.

On your amp, it's the V4 tube position on your amp:

Svetlana is probably the best ones out there.
Damn shame they stopped production.

I'm wondering now if the new DSL is going to go bad like the old one did.

You know there is a test to check the board before you put new tubes in.
I would highly recommend you do this test to avoid frying any more output tubes.
