So, a while back I shared in this thread the reconstruction we were doing in our main bathroom. We had a leaky potty. Caused mold in the crawl space. Hired a company to do the mold remediation. In the process, they of course pulled the toilet. Broke up the tile and the concrete backer board to get to the plywood so it could be dried. About 10 sq ft. of tile. We had some extra tile, but they broke up more than they needed to leaving us short of being able to duplicate what they broke. So we had to get creative piecing together to fill the 10 sq ft. Finally got it all finished yesterday. Yeah us.

The reason for the leak. When the commode was installed the builder did not take into account there was about 3/4" of backer board and tile. When the toilet was pulled, the wax seal was basically not in contact with the base of the toilet. It took (3) 1/4" spacers to get the correct height so the wax seal could actually seal.

All done.

Then this morning we suffered a failure of near epic proportion. Momma lifted the lid and was holding the lid in her hands. Hinges broke. :pound-hand:

Just got done paying a bunch of bills. Trying to get the last of the stuff paid off from my parents house. I sold it three weeks ago, and this is now the third weekend that I don't have to rush off to take care of stuff. The past year and a half has sucked to say the least. Thanksgiving night, we did fly to Sicily for a few days. A charity that my wife is involved with had a party in Catania. It was a nice distraction for a few days. I wish we could have stayed a few more days. Tomorrow, we're going to visit friends for the first time in ages. It feels funny to start getting my life back. As soon as I peruse the forum a little longer, I'll log off and head to the cellar and play a couple of guitars for a while.

I really like the slow pace of life in Italy compared to New England. I could move there in a heart beat. There is nothing relaxed here. The weather wasn't that great, but it was very pleasant. And very relaxing.
