Both. I use audio taper (log) for volume and linear for tone controls.
On my Strat I did just the opposite. Linear on the volume and audio on the tone(s). Just the way the kit came. But I like it. I spend more time playing at 3-4 than I do at 8-10. Add in, I seldom take the tone controls off 10 so one vs the other really doesn’t matter in my case.

I'm a rebel, I prefer linear volume pots. Tone pots it doesn't much matter to me, but I much prefer linear volume pots.

Not sure I have tried both. I have been getting CTS "vintage taper" from Mojotone.

A recent re-wiring in my Lester:

I get my CTS pots from Guitarfetish and I like them a lot. Plus I like 300k or 330k bridge volume pots and they are about the only ones that carry 330k CTS pots.
At the moment not remembering where I got the kit for the Strat. The two tone pots were 250k analog pots and the volume pot was a 280k linear. Also at the moment not remembering what cap they sent with the kit.

I know. What good am I?

Caps are another thing. People say it doesn't matter what type they are, but I absolutely hear a difference. I hate paper in oil caps, they're dark and blah. I've experimented a lot with caps, I like orange drops and I don't care what anybody says. If it's all in my head so be it...but it's not.

I have not experimented enough to have an opinion. When it comes to caps, I listen to what y’all say and go from there. Make an educated guess. Whether that be type or capacitance. Unless of course we start talking resistors, in which case, capacitance is not overly important.

Art of Tone audio taper pots. Orange drop cap.I rewired my JJN Epiphone Les Paul Custom. I put the nice thick clear custon control cover on it to_Original cover is/was junk thin.View attachment 100438
I’m gonna have to pop the cover on my G400 and take a photo. Not gonna pull the pick guard on the Strat just for a photo shoot. That’s way to much work.

I’m swapping electronics in my Ibanez bass. Basically correcting a failed experiment I did years ago. Replacing the plastic plate with a carbon fiber plate I made.
