It is funny how a famous and influential drummer can turn out how he did when he self admittedly played his way because he couldn't play certain ways/skills.

LOL @ The Knack T shirt

I for one sure love his chops. As an aspiring drummer unlike Ringo, I could have set my stuff up lefty, or righty as I am ambidextrous. In fact when I play drum grooves, I often play them leading with my right foot on the kickdrum, then play awhile and decide to switch and do them left foot lead with the other pedal of my double pedal.

Other times I switch all over in how I hit the snare and toms, as I have toms to both my left and right sides.
I first learned Ringo was lefty playing righty from Simon Kirke who said he was stumped for awhile trying to copy Ringo until he realized Ringo led all his fills like a lefty.

I understand entirely------
years of driving ---I have learned to play many tunes with the left foot doing kick duties....because the right is working the gas pedal .....lol

very interesting about the way Ringo does fills ......never realized it but now its plain as day!

Adrian, thanks for always coming to my threads to add interesting comments and to fuel additional input from me and others.
Another good clip about Ringo.

Notice all the rightys playing the fill from high tom to low instead of like Ringo says he has to do it.

That's great advice for any musician...not just drummers.

No kidding. Not only does he play to the song, the man has touch like no other. The way he "bends" the strikes in that second video is a perfect example.

Great Video! Thanks for sharing it...

Awesome videos. Love Ringos drumming. I mean shite hes one of the Beatles.Nothing more needs said.

My favorite drummer....and to me...this is The Blues....as I like them.

Well if we're talking favorites, then that's a slightly different subject. Ringo is a master but my favorite drummer is William Thomas Ward
