A Day In Hell: How My last 24hrs Has Went

A couple months ago, my wife somehow conned me into attending not one but TWO nights in Charlottesville, VA to attend back to back Dave Matthews Band concerts. Since this is their hometown base, getting tickets was chaotic at best but hey, we got to go to TOOL last weekend so I compromised. I'm not bashing DMB as a whole, as they have a massive and devout fanbase clearly, but it's never been my cup 'o tea so to speak ( seriously, going from TOOL to this is like ditching your brand new Buggatti Chiron for a Honda Minivan)

Anywho, I booked a hotel immediately when we got tickets because every place was selling like hotcakes. Wanted to go the Airbnb route but everywhere in a 20 mile radius went as quickly as the hotels. So, my wife suggests this "place" that I won't even mention ( some rundown motel) because the reviews on Booking .com said while it was basic, it was clean). I'm not a snob, I just need 4 walls, a roof, a shower, a bed but it's GOT to be clean at least.

We walk in this dump and within exactly 6 mins notice the bathroom door has bugs all over it and more pouring out of the hinges ( about 6-8). Using Google Lens, we confirmed beyond the shadow of a doubt that they are German Cockroach Nymphs aka babies. Not to mention bloodstains on the bed skirt. So i grabbed my $hit, went outside, sprayed it with Lysol and walked to the desk and demanded a refund while at the same time, calling Booking. Com and informing them of what happened. The scumbag didn't want to give us the money back even after showing him photos, so the website called him and he cussed them out. Long story short? I ended up losing one nights stay in charges.

So now we're left scurrying for another hotel. I ended up going with Expedia and ended up at a Super 8 that was brand new and actually pretty decent for what it was. Problem is, because of last minute bookings and price gouging? $633 for 2 nights.....yeah, I paid $316.50 a night for a Super 8 because everywhere else was gone lol

Get to the hotel, check in and need to get a ride 3 miles away to the venue. Never used an Uber or Lyft, so I tried and literally spent 30 mins with no availability. Got a hold of a Yellow Cab, got to the concert. Go in and go to get a beer? All the had was this local craft brew that can only be described as horse piss. I HATE craft brew ( and you can call me trash for that, I'm good with it because I am lol) 4 beers between the two of us cost me $48.

Onto the show: not bad but like I said, I've never been a fan. My wife on the other hand is a HUGE fan. So here I am in this arena with all these folks I have nothing in common with such as hipsters and granola lovers, sober and not knowing maybe 3 songs. What I didn't know is DMB Is a JAM band, so they like to take a 4 min song and drag this on for 15-20mins. Wondered why there wasn't an opener? Now I know: they spend all evening just noodling away on a mediocre song to begin with. Here's a drawn out cover of Fool In The Rain

After nearly 3hrs the concert ends and I need a ride back. Yellow Cab is closed so Uber it is. After standing in the freezing cold for 30 mins, I got a ride that cost me $40 to travel 2.9 miles back lol
Ended the night with a Chicken Taquito from 7-11 and a some Tylenol lol

I truely feel for ya Mike. The 3 hr DMB concert would be torture enough with out the roach motel. But ya know happy Wife ect ect lol.
Lmao you ain't lying brother

It's kinda like that movie, Groundhog Day. Everyday I wake up, no matter what I do, I know that I'm just gonna wind up at a DMB concert by the end of the evening. So in other words, this is purgatory and I apparently croaked sometime earlier this week and unless I figure out whatever it is I gotta do right in my life, the day will only repeat itself endlessly lmao

Oh sure... blame it all on a guy named Dave Matthews... :cautious:

Lmao you know in the back of my head, I seriously thought about you when I was posting this. That's why I made sure I either wrote DMB or Dave Matthews Band: I would set off a world war chain event if I just spent minutes typing a rant that only said the first two names of that band. I would have essentially bought my own ticket to getting booted promptly outta here on my ass for attacking a fellow member of a very good standing :ROFLMAO:
