Randall Speakers vs GT12T-75

Huge 75 fan, was part of my tone most my guitar life but in tandem with v30. Studio always mic'd 75 on 45 & v30 on edge of cone,I have first runs of each & china batch in 2x12 PV 75/v30 cab(excellent BTW). It was my DSL set up for at least 3 cd's. Now into greenbacks up top & type V & crate celestion 12l bottom cause of el84 amp & early compression & more home playing noot so much at live drum level.

The 75 in my experience is part of the 800 & up sound in a way.. but used wisely

Depends on what year the Celestions are really. Most but not all Celestions are made in China as of 2003 due to Gold Peak ( Hong Kong) buying them in 1993 and waiting 10 years to switch production of most speakers. The G12 Greenbacks are one still made in England for example

Many don't notice a difference, some say the English models are clearer than the Chinese. But here's a video showing both

I'm admittedly biased towards T-75s anyways, as that's the speakers I've predominantly used for about 27 years now. No specific reason other than it's the multi-use of them: they cover all ground well without being too extreme in any aspect. Right in the middle anyway you use them

I used T75s in my ‘87 Silver Jubilee cabs for years. They’re great sounding speakers, and gobble up my JTMs and JMPs real well. I like the clarity you get from them. According to the Solo Dallas website, they are one of the most changed speakers in Celestine line. An ‘87 won’t sound the same as a ‘97, ‘07, or ‘17. The early ones are the most desirable.

Fil 'Solo Dallas' Oliveri is a personal friend. 2 years ago, he moved from San Diego to Sarasota, Florida. He's a super cool guy....

Both are Chinese...

I'm surprised you can hear much difference, since they are likeky made in the same facility. Perhaps the Randall's have had a harder life and have a 'looser' tone???

Even if they are made in the same facility, what matters are the materials used, the manufacturing process, and the specs to which the speakers are manufactured. You can have different processes for different speakers even if made under the same roof.

But, you do bring up a good point about the speakers' age. The Randalls are likely broken in, whereas the Celestions are new. Another test after a couple months of use with the Celestions would be interesting, too.
