Fire up that 4x12, put on your sunglasses, and plug in this six-string monster for some glorious classic rock tone! The SC-550SL Gotoh comes straight out of the golden age of rock n’ roll, with everything the modern rocker expects. A weight-relieved mahogany body with a gorgeous flamed maple top and a set mahogany neck provide that traditional tonewood recipe known for its attack and sustain. And thanks to the chambering, you don’t have to sacrifice your spine for tone! The 12” radius Pau Ferro fingerboard comes sporting 22 stainless steel frets, making worn frets a thing of the past, while the Gotoh tuners and graphite nut ensure zero tuning issues. Powering the SC-550SL are two Tesla Opus-1 Alnico-5 humbuckers, with individual volume and tone controls. Flick the pickup selector to the bridge position and crank out some dirty riffs, or try the neck position with the tone rolled down for that sweet singing solo tone. Or mix both pickups and play around with the controls; a plethora of tones awaits you.

Has Harley been sued by Gibson lately? Noticed a slight similarity...:pound-hand::pound-hand::pound-hand:

Child slave labor??

I have read and heard some good reviews on Harley Benton, including one I believe from Adrian. On the Benton fusion video above the guy said it could be used for a gigging guitar. And imagine comes with stainless steel frets to boot, for under $500 bucks. Looks like descent quality to me and pickups sound very good. For anyone who is looking for an axe in that dollar range and with that quality, I haven't seen anything in my local shop that would compare or come close in that price point.

Such an original design! I can't imagine where they got the inspiration for such a thing.

I have heard mostly good things about them, but have never played one. The lowest priced models can be the typical hit or miss on quality control.
They have a US based outlet now, and I think a Reverb store.

They used to charge a flat shipping rate of @ $30 US, and some guys would order 2 or more at a time.
I have heard of a few instances where there was a problem, and it was difficult to return from the US to the UK, or (maybe it was Germany) where they ship from in Europe.

But yes, expect some lesser quality woods and hardware, as one would expect, vs Gibson, etc..
Again, typical for budget guitars.

I'm surprised Gibson hasn't sued them as well. They went after Dean hard.
Firefly could be next if they get noticed.

For sure Steve, nice to see company's coming into the market like this , who are building descent guitars in this price range, for beginners and advanced players alike..
For sure.
I was looking at one their "Fusion" models, with a Floyd Rose, baked maple neck, quilty looking top. I have plenty of pickups to experiment with....

Really great looking instrument for +/- $400 USD.

Yeah, O.W. Appleton is the one that hardly anybody knows about.

The "App" guitar. Designed and built in 1941 by O.W. Appleton:

Here's the story:

Yeah, it's just another reason why I have a hard time with Gibson suing all the smaller companies for essentially the same thing it's guilty of itself.

We bought my 25 year old son (a lefty) a USA Fender Acoustic back in 2000. He recently asked for advice on buying his first electric.

Not wanting to sway his decision, i told him to read reviews and play as many LH guitars as he could, and base his decision off those experiences. He limited his budget to $1,000.000 because he felt that no really ex eptional guitar (based on models he actually played) existed below about $800.00USD.

A couple of days sgo, he told me that after much consideration, he decided on a LH PRS-24 and it is a really exceptional quality guitar, despite being an Indonesian model, built by Samick.

These HB's are way better than my first guitar...

I've really not heard much negativity towards HB. Or Firefly. That seems like another one that's been getting some praise. I bet they both blow the socks off my first guitar too!
