New Tele Day!

This is the tele I had my eye on used for the right price for a few years now.
I was off it since I am pretty happy with the Indio tele, and recently added a few more guitars.

While agonizing over spending on a Sabbra Caddabra on Reverb, I came across a mint, open box Squier CV 50s Tele in White Blonde from Proaudiostar.
I was leery about that seller.
The Squier prices had gone way up everywhere but seem to be coming down some.

I took a chance and it arrived in three days.
The "open box" end was not taped and the big staple on one side was pulled through, the other partially pulled out, but secure.

If it is used or a floor model, I cant tell besides a few finger print smudges on the chrome bits and some scuffs on the plastic film on the pick guard, which is lifted a bit near the controls.
Nothing that looks like pick scratches though. No dings scratches, etc.

It checks out fine, pretty playable out of the box.
A few of the tuners are a bit stiff / hard to turn, but dont appear bent or damaged.
I like it a lot.

This is the first guitar I have played with the ashtray bridge and 3 saddles, took a little getting used to.
The intonation isnt far off, but I may be looking for compensated saddles.
I might try modding these with a file, grinder, or cut off wheel if need be..... it's a thought.

I have other fish to fry for now before I can do a thorough set up, dress the nut, fret level if need be, etc.

I'm not much of a Tele guy, not a hater like some well documented members who will remain nameless *ahem*Ramo&Steve*ahem* sorry scratchy throat. I am a sucker for white with black pickguard and chrome hardware. Very sexy indeed! Congrats!

Fine by me. I never really deep dived into the whole body tonewood thing.
I think pine was used early on for the Tele and some custom builders use it.

The only negative I have come across so for is with a couple of the other cheap imports I have had come and go. What they call basswood was so soft the screws stripped really easily, or where already stripped when I got it new.

I haven't had any more time with it since the initial unboxing; I will today.

This is my exact Tele I brought to show you, JT. YAY you got this one.

I bought my Telecaster on a whim, and then had some trouble bonding with it too...
I set it up myself... and then wondered why it didn't feel right.

So I took it to a luthier to get set up professionally. I figured this would make it
easier to sell if I still couldn't relate to it. I had thought I could set the thing up,
but when the luthier's job was done it was like a different guitar. I bonded with it instantly
and haven't changed my mind in the 13 years since I brought the lady home.

Mine's a MIM replica of a seventies "Tele Deluxe" complete with a pair of Fender "Wide Range"
humbuckers. I do love this guitar. Tele aficionados will sometimes glance at it and then look
away like it was an embarrassment. *grins

I don't care. My whole life seems to have been dedicated to the confounding of purists of any stripe.
Tele purists are fair game for confunditation. And my Tele Deluxe replica is a great guitar.
Love the maple neck.

I always liked those Tele Deluxes too, Col.
