TTR Game of Toanz

This is really all anyone needs:

Note how the noise gate is at the very front so as not to taint any of the exponential gain staging with unwanted noise.
Still needs a Metal Zone, just for that extra umph.

I think the show aspect and drummer and volume allows me to firstly set up the amp the way I want and I rarely play at home with amps turned up.
Secondly in terms of guitar performance and playing, I get an adrenaline rush that shows in my playing that I cannot get sitting at home on a stool.
It's just how i do, I guess.

Now, i know we are vastly different,
but personally, I never change my settings. My tone is my signature sound, I just adjust volume for the size of the venue. I'm always the only one in a group who is plugged in and ready to go without messing with everything....but working in a $300/hour studio teaches you efficiency and economy of movement.

I get that same live performance rush everytime I sit down to record!

As I use different amps, it will vary.. Size of room and volume setting will affect my EQ settings well, for me. I don't like sitting to play either!!

Ok well checking in this morning it seems the Game of Toanz seems to have kind of blown up a little bit.

Really, I just wanted to steer the conversation into a playing/demonstrative/tonal direction, and have some harmless testosteroney fun with it. Headache has the right idea with his video submission, and I can safely predict say that is going to rocket him up like a bullet when I re-evaluate and re-score everyone this weekend, it might place him in position to challenge inside top 12

Remember where tone lives, fellas. And how best to extract and wield it. Sure, some of it is your precious signal chain, maybe up to 50%, the rest? You need to focus, reach down and, pull it out of.... of... somewhere.

Iron1, needs mention here. He's finally broke the top 25 with that Red Winter thing. Particularly the first twenty seconds or so, then all the rest? Well the drums were good but all that heavy production just buried what sounded like a First Act guitar , but I think you're on the right track.

LiveEvil has fortified his position, Guitar Weasel jumps into the fray guns blazing, and slays off a few who were blocking him. He's about ready to pass the gator coyote dude, at least until mr. Wilddoglizard guy resolders his shorting-out guitar cords and lays something new down, that isn't doo-wop type stuff.

Speaking of which... Regarding the ambitios current Tone Gauntlet Challenge for Number 4 position (he dared not take on eSGEe in number 5), I'm hearing a lot of canned stuff from yesteryear.

Brothers and Others, your tone is today. You cannot rest on your laurels from tonal days gone by when you were still young and angry. Your tone has changed since then, and cannot be judged as Current Tone.
Don't dredge up your tonal past and try to pass it off as how you sound right now. Real and True tone is NOW and Fresh, and the TTR community wants to hear it, so they may pass judgement upon you. A little nasty beak-chirping ain't gonna hurt you one bit either. The Game of Toanz is more than making strings oscillate, it's about making the other guy vibrate with fear, anger and envy, as you destroy his ego and claim your place in the Grand Hall of Toanz

Here's why I never alter amp settings. Have a listen. You will never hear changes in your EQ in this environment....

I've changed from a Jackson to a Les Paul and nobody noticed a difference.

@Mitch Pearrow SJMP has been at Primo Rehearsal Studios in Riverside when I changed guitars 3 times and nobody could tell a difference.

Iron1, that was a little better, but still musty and canned old-toanz, but at least it appears you have upgrated to a harley benton. We are all asking.... where's your in-person raw and today tones?

Overproduced seven passes of studio guitar is not Game of Toanz tone. Brings to mind when back in the day those two dudes in Milli Vanilli were pretty good singers, until they were found out to be frauds

Girl, you know it's true!

But maybe you are a good dancer at least?

Standing in front me, I would hear it. Less volume = Fletcher-Munson effect. Less low end. Hey it's whatever works for the player. In some bands I am the only guitar so it comes through a lot better. I hear a difference between my guitars, depending which ones of course.

Who aspires to Rule upon The Throne of Tone?

I am being pressured to gracefully bow out as there could be a minor conflict of interest argument.
This leaves a vacancy in the #1 spot, FREE and waiting to be filled by a worthy Tone Warrior.

The only way to the top is live fresh video that includes merciless trash-talking, display of ITP, and a tonal example of suitable guitaring. It's going to be messy, ugly, take-no-prisoners carnage. There will be crop-burning, field-salting, slave-taking, pillage and plunder, tears and lamentations, broken strings and egos, and may the Best Toanz Win.

What I am looking for now is interest from up to 20 Tone Regent wannabees, and we can set up a challenge ladder. Put your names in now, I'll give until midnight tomorrow night to register, then we shall battle in a virtual and "somewhat" organized Tournament of Tone. It's all in fun, there should be a prize too, I think.

This is as much about guitar skill as pro wrasslin is about fairness, sportsmanship and wrasslin skillz.
It is about harnessing and wielding power, and the abilities to berate, irritate and congflagrate
