It's been a while since there was a great music movie and even longer since one dealt with metal. But this weekend, Netflix released Metal Lords and damned if it's not a great movie!

Its a coming of age comedy about highschool outcasts forming a metal band. Simple enough plot right? But for me, this hit really close to home on a lot of angles growing up, like painfully close lol.

Even if you aren't a fan of metal, this movie is absolutely awesome. If you are? The plus is Tom Morello was over the music choices with bands featured such as Metallica, Motorhead, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Mastodon, Pantera and many others. Not to mention some great cameos from some metal icons!

Do yourself a favor and give it a watch!

Loved it! Thanks @Clockworkmike !
Lol on a side note, there were a LOT of parts that I related to pretty hard with as a kid that brought back memories, painfully hilarious memories:
✅Highschool loser and outcast
✅Wanting to start a band for "revenge"
✅Playing Metal in a World of Pop Rivals
✅Spinal Tap level of never finding a bassist
✅Fighting with other bands because they are more popular than your's

And the last two...oh boy these hurt my soul by hitting so close lmao
✅Your band is failing because you can't get along, so let's blame it on the drummer's "Yoko" girlfriend
✅Finally playing the Talent Show to show the world how great you are.......only to come up short against the crappier but more popular pop band ( only an amp falling on someone didnt end the Talent show, rather a full-on riot. But that's a story for another day lmao)

I missed this post.
I am going to give this a look tonight.

Mike, were we in the same H.S. band? lolololol!

I watched it again last night, it makes me laugh.

Love it love it love it.... My only fault with the film is while he's mentioning great metal bands, he also spits out the words guns and posers and rage.... I get the rage nod since Tom was doing the music for the movie, but GnR....really? There absolutely nothing metal about that band... Might as well have used acdc.

Machinery of torment!
(This song is on Spotify fyi)

The blonde in the hot tub is a smoke show! I wouldn't have let Rob talk me down off that one when I was that age...hell no.

Hahaha yeah i figured there'd be some issues with the "homework assignment" and subsequent band lists. Of course Rage was gonna slip one in there like you said, but, i can give em a pass: it's all roads to metal eventually lol

And as for the hot tub girl, i guess one way to look at is : If the Metal God talks directly to you, listen up lol would've been a lot of regret for sure but, crazy cello chick was a sure thing and definitely cool lol

I gotta tell ya....i really dig the song! Lol

Interesting tidbit: DB Weiss ( co-creator of Game Of Thrones and principal writer of tbe movie) wrote these lyrics and Tom Morello wrote the music and played the guitar on it. Morello said he wanted a straight up metal riff in the veins of Maiden meets Sabbath with Randy Rhoads licks in the solo.

Further weird info: these two met by dropping off their kids at school and Tom Morello said he was wearing a Judas Priest shirt and noticed some other dad wearing a Mastodon shirt. They hit it off immediately and began discussing making this movie from past experiences in school lol

Worked great in my opinion! Would love to see a sequel
