Marshall 8200 Bi-Chorus Head - Oh poop!!! Its NAD:

Noise Update:

Last night, the local radio station (95.1 Kountry KFRG Kfrog FM) was playing loudly through this amp. Kfrog's tower is about 1.5 miles east of us and about 1 mile higher up the hillside in elevation.

The transmitter is located at
34° 11' 51" N, 117° 17' 13" W and operayes at 50,000 Watts. The transmitter elevation is 3419 feet asl the transmitter is 236 feet above ground and 489 feet above the average terrain in this area.

You could clearly make out commercials and station IT'S. When I pushed the dB boost for the FX loop, the white noise and RFI increased. I sent @syscokid and @DonO videos.

Ok...

This morning, I switch the amp back on. It was still plugged into the sam wall ug and still sitting (unmoved) in the same location by the fireplace.

This morning, no hiss, no radio station bleeder, nothing...

Interesting...
I had an old bass amp that had a similar issue about picking up radio stations my father had a 100 foot CB antenna beside the house , and if I turned the gain and volume past 5 or 6 on certain days I would end up getting alaskan fishing reports .

we have 5 cats(I think.... wait.....er......... YEP 5)
and 9 dogs

Anybody else ever wonder why guys put a TS-9 in front of a tube amp and create a square-wave, diode-clipped, solid state signal???

Good for you Robert! Ya gotta find what makes you happy!
As I am not making a living with music, I play whatever equipment I like without worrying if it makes me money. .I like variety and playing out with all my toys so I really enjoy making various amps and guitars etc work for me as required.
I love my tube amps but I love anything that works well for me.
Probably a new amp day coming for a Hughes and Kettner Spirit 200 floor amp. All enclosed in a multi pedal format.

Let's not forget the Rockman...

Rockman use on big time recordings:

Definitely "Highway to the Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins. Rockman all the way.

"The Heat is On", by Glenn Frey.

Boston's "Third Stage" of course.

Several tracks on Robert Plant's "Now and Zen", including "Ship of Fools".
I specifically remember reading the details about the use of the Rockman on Now and Zen. I am guessing about the other ones, but if I am wrong I would be VERY surprised. That sound is so unmistakable.

Famous songs we all know, recorded on solid state amplifiers...

Iron Maiden - Caught Somewhere in Time and 7th Son of the 7th Son, both albums are pretty much Gallien&Krueger solid-state sound (2000CPL preamps, 250ML or 250RL amps, 2100SEL amps, etc.). During their "Killer" era their stage rig was briefly H||H VS Musician amps.

Mötley Crüe - Theatre of Pain album - Gallien&Krueger 250ML

Pink Floyd - Momentary Lapse of Reason - Gallien&Krueger 250ML

Speaking of the G&K 250ML amp, let's add several Rush albums, a few ZZ Top albums, at least one Bon Jovi and onr Nuno Bettencourt album, a tour by death metal band "Death," and use on Judas Priest's "Screaming For Vengeance" album. Basically I think every studio may have had one during that time. It's practically one key definer of the 80's guitar sound.

RHCP - Blood Sugar Sex Magic album: Fender H.O.T.

Rolling Stones (Keith Richard rig) - Let It Bleed and Beggar's Banquet albums, also Rock-n-Roll Circus: Triumph 100 Watt Lead or Silicon 100 amps

Ronnie Montrose - Open Fire: Lab Series L5, Gamma 3: Gallien&Krueger 200RG

Rory Gallagher Blueprint album and several tours during the same era: Stramp Power Baby

Shawn Lane - Powers Of Ten album: Holmes Mississippi Blues Master. Later he switched to using Peavey Pro-Fex amps followed by Line 6 amps.

The Who - Magic Bus album: Sunn Orion amps

Robben Ford used several sid state amps.

Dokken Tooth and Nail was recorded on a Randall RG 100.

Ever heard of Vox Super Beatle amps??? Well, Velvet Underground's debut album, several Tom Petty albums and at least one U.S. tour by The Beatles were fronted by Super Beatles.

The Beatles actually used Vox Conqueror amps more in the studio and speaking of old transistor Vox amps, you can hear a Vox Royal Guardsman on the Stray Cats' debut album.

Ty Tabor of King's X not only used solid state amps, he was universally lauded for his tone. He used old Lab Series amps from the late 70's/early 80's, and they came out at around the same time the similar Gallien-Krueger solid state amps came out.
