My First Amplifier

I just ran across this on the webz and it brought back some memories. This was my first amplifier that I bought back in the ‘80s. It was a Studio Pro 40.

These are pulling around $150.00 to $200.00 on eBay, which is about what I paid for mine brand new!

Sometimes I wish I still had it. It was a fun little amp. I don’t know if it used regular transistors or MOSFETs, but it sounded pretty good and even had a real spring reverb.

My first amp was an Alamo Fiesta.
I think I also had an Alamo Fiesta guitar.
I'm sure it drove my parents bonkers...

Still have my first ironically enough! Still works and doesn't sound that bad at all. Minus 2 lil scuffs on the front tolex, its largely great condition still some 27 years later.

My second amp was this one, but i unfortunately sold it and thus this is a stock photo.

Now i have found my main amp, which i cannot say enough good things about it. Does everything i need including headphone jack and aux jack for my MP3 player.

Here's something weird: my first guitar rig but using it now. I forgot how hard it was to play with this set up, but i had to start somewhere i guess. Not built for Hi Gain, hence the Marshall infatuation a few years later and Gibsons lmao

That looks just way too cool! I love the Art Deco styling.

Still have mine. It's a '65 Ampeg Gemini II, with a 15" Altec-Lansing speaker. Heavy as hell, and will not break up. Great if you're a jazz guy, like the teacher who I bought it from was back in '77.

Those old Peavey silver stripes were pretty decent.

Mine was a Univox Stage 65 20 watt crapola amp. Terrible. 1978. Then ditched it around 1980 for a Traynor TS200 with matching 9x8 inch cab. That went in 1983 for the Marshall 2203 white half stack I stupidly sold to a buddy to fund the Silver Jubilee in 1987. He still has it so I do see it now n then.

In 1978 Christmas I also got my first guitar which I still play and love. Goya GS40, a Gibson L6-S copy.
