Dave Mustaine Gibson V review…

Alright then….that fretboard was quite s#ite…unacceptable.
I am glad they chose to do the resurrection of the hockey stick on random Gibson models with the V.
I remember seeing the LP version in the 80s….much worse.
This is kinda sad in comparison to the black one that’s been floating around out there.
What in the actual F were they thinking when they packed this one to go out for review on the Trogly channel?!?! Seriously. That’s just….wow….train wreck….
#notmyV;)

Yea when I saw that review I let out a deep sigh and thought “ok, a Gibson with Dave’s taste, can’t really expect much else.” Then yea, I saw the inlay… tooling marks I can forgive. That messed up inlay… just no… I’d much rather have one of Dave’s dean guitars than this… and not a fan of those new pickups…

DEAN/dAVE...... period------ gibson "paying him off" to use THEIR "V" ..... frankly --- lame on so many levels, I dont have time to e'ssplain

I agree, i mean i can forgive him for switching from Jackson to Dean, it sounded like at the time Jackson didn't really treat him the best but Gibson?!

me holding Dave Mustanes guitar.jpg

me holding one of the custom USA made DEan Signature D.M. guitars at the factory in Tampa Fl. (I still have that shirt if you want "iron clad proof"
24k gold coted Dave Mustane Signature guitars in the set up room AT Dean Guitars in Tampa......
dave mustane 24k gold leaf finish guitars in custom shop.jpg

Dave had a long term deal with Dean ... not sure why that went south .....but obviously it has -- maybe he is just gettin older and linning the pockets for retirement?

Just do me a favor, if you get a hold of a Dave Mustain Dean explorer or V, hold onto it for me. I'll be wanting to get one of em.

It’s probably just a traditionalist mindset on my part, but I don’t think hockey stick or highly angled headstocks look as good on symmetrical V guitars as they do on asymmetrical Vs.

I think those kind of headstocks do look good on asymmetrical Vs, like a Rhoads V.

Not bashing here.

But this is what some guy posted in a guitar forum. I tend to agree.

OP - If you're chiefly concerned about having to deal with inconsistent QC, maybe it's best to just avoid Gibson altogether. There are a number of other companies for whom this is not an issue.

that does make sense....... however I have several Gibsons that are TRULY AMAZING.... I bash the "G" -- mostly because I like to and oft times they ask for it--- but damn it man -- WHEN THEY GET IT RIGHT ---- there truly is NOTHING like it

ALSO for the record I am looking for a Gold treble side "Grover" tuner and a silver bass side grover tuner -- for 2 different projects (one being the "V" the high "E" tuner you may notice is a SILVER one :rolleyes:
