Favorite metal guitar amp(s)?

I ran a Marshall JCM900 dual reverb for years crowning two Carvin B 412 cabs and absolutely loved it. Since I've downsized, my rig has gone from a Blackstar HT5, to a Peavey 6505MH to a Jet City JCA22h, and I added a Marshall DSL1hr after that.

Two of my favorites I've ever run through were a Peavey 6505+, Mesa Boogie Badlander and a Peavey Invective 120. But, with my modelers (an L6 Helix that I sold to buy a Fractal Axe FX II XL+) I tend to gravitate towards the Soldano, Recto and Uberschall models - all amps I'd probably never shell out the big bucks for in real life, but ones I love In the modelers.

So, the question is, what are your favorite amps?

If money were no object, I'd have an SLO100, a Badlander and an Uberschall. But, it is, so I'm just dreaming now...

Personally, ive only owned one amp outside of Marshall and that was an original Peavey 5150 ( fine amp). For what i currently have? All 3 work really good for what i play, while each being drastically different than one another ( JCM900 2500 SLX, JCM2000 DSL50 and a Mode Four). My favorite out of the 3 is probably the JCM2000 because its so versatile but the other two are great as well.

If the question is " What would I like to have?" Well how much time do you got? Lmao

Definitely would like a Marshall JVM410H or a JCM2203X but would also love to get my hands on a Engl Powerball II, Diezel Herbert, Laney Ironheart IRT120H or a Hughes and Kettner Triamp Mk3 outside of the Marshall hang up i have

Big disclaimer here: I'm referring to classic heavy metal / hard rock. My apologies to all contemporary metalheads for not including metal Metal (2000s and after) uber hi-gain face-melting amps. Not really too familiar with them.

For me, and I think I have mentioned it before here in some other thread, my all-time favorite heavy metal amp would have to be the one that made me fall in love with distortion since my day 1 as a rocker when I was a teen: Peavey Musician 400 mk. III head, going thru a 4x12 old-school Peavey cab loaded with Black Widows.

I know... solid state, rather commercial brand... but when I experienced in person a Gibson Flying V literally ROARING in the basement of our LG's home through that beast of an amp (heavy as f**k in more ways than one) and going into a proper banshee's wail of a feedbacked note that shook not only the windows but the very core of my soul... there was no going back... I was hooked on HM, powerchords and distortion. And of course, I did save enough to buy one myself after a very long summer.

Pretty much like your very first time behind the wheel of a car or your very first big wet kiss... looking in retrospect, it's something that you may have done countless times since and many may come close... but the feeling that special first time hot-branded on your mind has a unique special place of its own... :poo:, I gotta go turn on an amp, crank it up and play something!

As for wishlist: JCM800, any old-school Orange and even a Laney will do for the moment. Maybe even a Bassman... When I have enough disposable money to get one of them, that is!

I used solidstate Peaveys starting out, Transtubes specifically. Nothing in the world wrong with them or commerical brand amps at all. I actually miss two of the ones i had growing up lol ( Envoy 110 and Bandit 112, that was dad's actually but i used it more than he did lol).

My Mode Four is a solidstate hybrid actually and can be the cleanest, brightest reverby amp or the most brutal detuned metal sounding thing you can find pending on what you want lol SS have their perks i guess

Lars and I back in the day.jpg

BTW, I don't consider myself a Metaller... Need a lot of energy just to keep with the headbanging and mosh-pitting... maybe just an old-school Heavy Metalhead... :dood::dood: Yay-uh!!!
