What's your all-time favorite metal album?

Ugh, my god, just ask for my eyes or to make me pick which kid I love more why dont you? Lmao

This is tough.....i will undoubtedly change my mind the SECOND i type this....but since you asked for favorite METAL album ( it excludes my other #1 album which could be argued as metal but mostly hard rock : Back In Black)

Im going with an album i think is flawless:

Many say Number of the Beast or Powerslave but Piece of Mind is all killer zero filler
A very worthy choice, indeed, Mike!

Almost all of my favorites have been posted on Pg 1 -2. Let me just say, Clock, ESgee, SGJOHN, Mitch, GBall, Cador, Iron, Ramo, Six and Spa8 all hit ones I could say were first to come to mind.

Let me just say all those choices tie with. Black Sabbath Black Sabbath

I could easily swap out those 3 albums, Lateralus is right up there too. If I had to listen to it forever, it's going to be TOOL. I seem to always catch something else in their music that I hadn't heard before and that would keep it interesting for quite a while. I remember one night a group of friends and I discussed Lateralus for hours and even back then regarded it as one of the best and possibly the perfect metal album. This was right about when 10,000 Days was released.

I've never been too big a fan of Undertow, but all four of the subsequent albums rank up there as my favorites of all time. I give 10,000 days the slightest edge, but I could happily live with AEnima, Lateralus or Fear Inoculum as a number one.

Like you, I have listened to these albums hundreds of times and am always finding new things in them, and they always remain exciting to hear. One thing for the though is I have the listen to them in their entirety - take each one in as a body of work start to finish.
I've wanted to cover Symptom of the Universe for like 30 years - tried to get several of my old bands to do it and could never get the other guys to go on it. An updated version of that with 90s metal guitar tones (5150/Recto), growling bass, artillery drums and my vocals - gets me every time. One of those undone bucket list things for me.

Awesome choice. Everyone knows my disdain for playing covers, but when I was in a cover band a whole bunch of years ago one of the songs I insisted we play was "Hole In The Sky" despite some of the others not really thinking it would fit, but we had a great female singer who pulled it off really well.

My very first band was a cover band, where we took thrash songs and played them twice as fast. Oddly enough, I've never played another cover since and was in 3 signed bands after that one.

I've covered Supernaut a few times. It's a fun tune to play live.
