What's your all-time favorite metal album?

I had this exact same question asked to me by my best friend and boss almost 10 years ago and then I hesitated for a while, for which he raked me over the coals mercilessly. But I finally came to a conclusion. And today I stand by it: "British Steel" by Judas Priest.

So every major business/work decision we've had to make since then, we jokingly call a "British Steel" decision.

Ugh, my god, just ask for my eyes or to make me pick which kid I love more why dont you? Lmao

This is tough.....i will undoubtedly change my mind the SECOND i type this....but since you asked for favorite METAL album ( it excludes my other #1 album which could be argued as metal but mostly hard rock : Back In Black)

Im going with an album i think is flawless:

Many say Number of the Beast or Powerslave but Piece of Mind is all killer zero filler

I could easily swap out those 3 albums, Lateralus is right up there too. If I had to listen to it forever, it's going to be TOOL. I seem to always catch something else in their music that I hadn't heard before and that would keep it interesting for quite a while. I remember one night a group of friends and I discussed Lateralus for hours and even back then regarded it as one of the best and possibly the perfect metal album. This was right about when 10,000 Days was released.

I've never been too big a fan of Undertow, but all four of the subsequent albums rank up there as my favorites of all time. I give 10,000 days the slightest edge, but I could happily live with AEnima, Lateralus or Fear Inoculum as a number one.

Like you, I have listened to these albums hundreds of times and am always finding new things in them, and they always remain exciting to hear. One thing for the though is I have the listen to them in their entirety - take each one in as a body of work start to finish.

To be honest, Fear Innoculum kinda didnt work for me as well as i had hoped. Its a great album, very spacious and insanely complex, but i guess being lead up from Aenima, Lateralus and 10,000 Days with the incredible heavy, quicker tempo songs; it was a big change to hear everything slowed down, I guess. 7empest was the closest song towards the the riffs i was used to.

Still like the album a lot though

Man that's hard.
One album only....

Off the top I would say this.
