No, that is very close to actual body width, so the knots will ne inward. If anything crazy happens, I will just make a plug out of scraps, which would be even less prominent than a knot

This build took a necessary detour. I had to build this straight angle jig




So I could make rails for the router sled bed, which goes with the router sled that I built. This will be used to flatten the side of the guitar back that will get glued to the top. The top will not get flattened this way as it is a rough procedure and not a great idea for figured wood.






I will attempt to flatten the back wood tomorrow.

I took the router sled for a ride today. The glue side is flat



I then sanded out the tool marks. I took the opportunity to sand the side that will be the back (below) - I am excited about it





I then sanded the top on both sides with 220 grit to get it ready for the glue up.

I am anxious about the glue up. I made some tapered cauls today, but I am not certain if put the right amount of taper. Also, the top needs to be coaxed into shape over the back since it is not flat. I may do a dry clamp down tomorrow

Thanks for the kind words everyone. It has a long way to go before it is a guitar, but at least there is progress!

I did these templates on the bandsaw today. These will serve as cauls to press the back and cap wood together. I do not really need to edge them with the router, but I may give them a pass just to get the hang of it.

I did some edge routing tonight. I am glad I did - I made some gouges that I hope not to repeat.

I secured the master template to the plywood with a couple of screws and washers, and went to work





In the end, it came out fine - for the templates!!

I got a bit ambitious after that, and I rough cut the real wood on the bandsaw. I will likely edge route them individually before gluing them up
