At hearing Deep Purple and Child In Time for the first time, I think the title of my thread says it all. Well, Maybe not all, she particularly mentions Ian Gillan and Blackmore too.
So this chick knows Dio and Blackmore, but has never heard Deep Purple...I call Bull$hit!
Great DP song though!
Well, I still like her reactions it cracks me up.
Oh and here is some more Dio and Blackmore references.
Johnny Cash brought it, right up to the end. For sure.
Yup I saw that awhile back, ChrisTrent Reznor has stated that Johnny did this song much better than he did!
Here is a fairly new to me band I learned of from my buddy at Pearl Drums.
Hard Pass on this one. I just can't listen to that guttural voice music.
Had friends over this evening, Ken was a professional sound guy from the 70’s into the 90’s and toured with many famous bands. He toured with Deep Purple in the 70s, even has a video with him on stage with DP at Cal Jam 1974. He says that Blackmore was a real ass, anti social type, but certainly plays excellent music.
I've been following her channel for a while. Love the Dio videos in particular. Haven't really watched the heavier metal stuff although most of the bands are familiar to me...
@Sp8ctre I don't think she knew of Dio / Blackmore / Rainbow before someone suggested she reacts to it. So seems likely that she hasn't gone out of her way to research the lineage back to Deep Purple before making the video...
My thoughts exactly. I like her videos for the break down of techniques and analysis but some of those songs are pretty hard to miss. I thought that maybe she hadn't heard of them, being an opera singer and all, but I don't know... Then I saw that she made a reaction video to The Phantom of the Opera. An oper singer that never heard The Phantom of the Opera? I say that's unlikely. I still enjoy her videos though. So this chick knows Dio and Blackmore, but has never heard Deep Purple...I call Bull$hit!

My school days we used blast this poop from our VCR on full blast me and friends. Metal was not in at that time in Georgia so we used to listen rock, I didnt even know metal was out there hahahaha, once I found it I never looked backAt hearing Deep Purple and Child In Time for the first time, I think the title of my thread says it all. Yeah, we have one station that ålaus classic rock. One that plays oldies, one that plays modern and alternative rock. I can see how you could have missed some of those songs, they're not played much on radio. Like Aqualung or Child in Time. But Neil Young's Heart of Gold, or The Phantom of the Opera? When you're an Opera singer? It doesn't matter much though, I still enjoy her videos. Not saying it's 100% genuine everytime but I there might be a "slight" Nordic bubble with regards to the exposure to metal via radio/TV?
Don't remember/(know?) how it is in Sweden but we have two country-wide radio stations that play a lot of what could be considered metal...
Her pronounciation of Tarja is pretty nice though![]()
