HNGD to Me!

The 'USED' stamp might indicate that it was given to someone to review and they didn't want it sent back, but they didn't want the reviewer to sell it as new either.

Gotoh SG381-MGT-07 B locking tuners would work without screw holes being changed etc. You'd have to buy a lefty or 'reverse' set, obviously.

That's right, well actually left, it's a cheap Jackson Dinky JS-22L. I actually like this thing. It is playing rather well with nothing but tuning. I got it primarily to test pickups in, but I think it's going to get some play time. There doesn't seem to be any wear on the frets or board. There isn't a scratch anywhere on the gloss black finish and I had to remove all of the clear protective film from it.

I'm going to have to upgrade the tuners with lockers. It has the nasty reverse taper pots, so those will have to go. It has ceramic pickups which I don't really care for, so I will probably make an alnico8 bridge pickup and an alnico 2 or 3 for the neck. May be a good time to try out the unoriented A5 I have. Time to see what's inside now.
Congrats on buying the right guitar love the reversed headstock. happy brutal riffing....

I wouldn't spend one penny on an upside down guitar either o_Oo_Oo_O
Actually I used to own one. It was a gift from a Monk. But mine was right side up.
I wouldn't mind too much... I've always wanted to do an "inverted Jimi"... Get a southpaw strat-like, cut a new nut, make all needed bridge adjustments and voila! Though I'm not too sure about how the machine head / tuners would really respond to the inverted tension for the longer stretch of the low strings. But if Jimi did it... so can I! :dood::pound-hand:

I think you can safely say that a Jackson will always be a great guitar that performs well, regardless of price tier.

I've done a little goofing around with it today. It actually has regular pots wired in reverse. I switched the wires to the proper terminals, so now turning clockwise increases volume and treble as it should. I also snugged up the tuning peg screws a bit to increase the rotating tension. Neck pickup is 8.8k and bridge is 15.9. Both are ceramic. I think I will make a 10k bridge (using 42 awg instead of 43 awg will result in a similar number of winds) with an A8 magnet and a 9k neck with an A2.

Anybody seen this before on an import Jackson?

It has a small used stamp on the back of the head. Like I said, I had to peel the protective plastic from it and it is almost immaculate. I'm guessing it was a demo? Music Zoo has these available for pre-order and I can't find any info on the serial number which is 104041399.

I thought 9 digit imports were from the 2000s.

Congrats! Looks like you got a good one.

I've owned like 9 or 10 of the Jackson JS2/32 line. The quality control is extremely hit or miss. You could get one that plays like a $750-1000 guitar and another that's a waste of wood, metal and plastic. I went through 4 different JS22-7s to find the two I kept (still have one, sold the 2nd last year) and 2 different JS32s to get a good one of those. Bought my kid a blue version of the one you have and it's nothing to write home about.

And, in all those, never once saw "USED" stamped on the back of the headstock. Either Music Go Round did that, or some prior owner... and that sticker doesn't look like what I had on mine, pretty sure the sticker was white, like the one that says Jackson.

But, the good ones are great mod platforms, as it seems you're about to find out. Here's my JS22-7 "Franken7" with custom paint job, Hipshot bridge, Schaller locking tuners and (in this picture at least) DiMarzio Imperium pickups.

Do you know if the bridge adjusters are standard Fender size? I want to put some String Savers on it.
