Ibanez unveils five new guitars

I'd call the Iron Label logo more Black Metal-esque than death metal, but hey, whatever blows your hair back!

I dig the Warrior/X series 6 string.....I don't need or want 7 or more strings, 6 is fine for me.

Is there a difference? I guess I'm not really current with all of the subtle nuances of the metal genre. :hide:

Not exactly any difference at all....That type of logoing has been adopted by many at this point, but it all began with black metal. Naturally it would seep into death metal and other extreme metal too. In my head, when I see a logo like that, I think to myself, "now there's a band that probably shrieks praises to Satan!" Lol

I meant, what is the difference between black metal and death metal? I'm not a metal guy, so I really don't know.

Copied from Google:

"In terms of vocals and instrumentation, death metal employs extreme brutality, intensity, and speed. ... Black metal, on the other hand, is characterized by high-pitched screaming vocals, tremolo picked guitars, a lack of bass, and blast beats. Unlike death metal, black metal places more bearing on the mood and melodies."

If you have ever listened to it, you'll recognize what they're talking about here. Just for the record, I'm not a huge fan of either, but there's some stuff I dig

Then theres the sub-genres within the sub-genres. Melodic Death metal, Death core, etc. I lean more towards the death metal and all of those branches and really started to like some death core. Easiest way to tell the difference between death and black metal is both the lyrical content as well as the production. If it sounds like its been recorded through a $20 computer mic using the old school microsoft memo recorder...its most likely black metal as they "go against the system" and "ef production quality" while death metal has a more professional sound quality. there are some outliers but for the most part thats it. Also death metal focuses on....well...death as far as lyrical content while black metal can be very anti religion, satanic in a lot of cases, anarchist.

That's the biggest difference to me, aside from the crappy production, is subject matter. It's called "Black" because it is Satanic/anti-religion/antichrist
