How do you like your strings?

I don't like brand new, jangly strings. I like them best after about a week or so when they settle in, and lose a bit of the shimmer.

Seems like they have the best round sort of sound at that point.

I like them best when the horrid new string "zing" is gone, so after a few days.

I used to use Ernie ball slinkys but they break to easy even 10s... Now after @Clockworkmike recommendation I put NYXLs 9s they are pricy but I'm worth it. I liked Elixirs as well, I like my strings jingly jingley new

gutiar strings couldnt tell ya ...............only one I know for sure is the es Paul recording has GIBSON


I recently got some EB 11's "BEEFY SLINKYS" to try on the Esquire and maybe the LP Jr. ..... will see how that goes......

Ok.... ya got me. I actually do occasionally change strings and when I do. These are what goes on the Ovation acoustic.
And these are what I have for the electrics right now. 9s go in the Fenders and 10s on the G400 and Viking semi hollow.

I dont like the initial janglieness either.
I change when tuning stability starts to degrade and/or when i can feel substantial divots on the underside from the frets.

Most everything I do I try for "cheap but good", and buy quantity when I see a good sale.
I like the plain old D'Adarrio strings but have had multiple issues with the hi e ball pulling out.
Maybe that was just that lot / production run as I used to buy 2 or more 3-packs at a time.

I like the GHS Boomers and mainly have stocked up on Martin Darco.
The Darco may be made by D'Addario.

I did not like the Musicians Friend house brand I tried years ago, seemed very stiff to bend.

25 1/2" gets 9-42 and 24 3/4" and 25" gets 10-46.
