I Got the J&J Covid Vaccine on Wednesday

Vaccines were first developed—at least in a rudimentary way—in the 1700s, when people used cow pox to build immunity to smallpox. Then, in the 1800s, Louis Pasteur found a way to create vaccines in the lab, and the modern age of vaccines had begun.

In the 1950’s, Jonas Salk created a vaccine for polio using killed versions of the polio virus itself. In 1957, two years after a mass immunization campaign, polio cases in the United States dropped from 57,628 in 1952 to about 5,600 and according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates, in 1952, 3,145 Americans died as a result of polio. Since 1996, that number has been zero. In 1958, 763,094 people in the United States contracted measles, and 552 died. In 2015, there were 188 measles cases and one death.

“Vaccines are safe, and they save the lives of children and adults every day,” said Carrie L. Byington, MD, dean of the Texas A&M College of Medicine, senior vice president of the Texas A&M University Health Science Center and vice chancellor for health services at The Texas A&M University System. “The science of vaccines is sound, and their safety is established.”

Vaccines are not 100 percent effective and no vaccine is without side effects, but vaccines are tested meticulously for safety. Science has shown over and over that vaccines do not cause autism. “Some people thought that the mercury preservative in vaccines was causing a problem, but that’s just not the case,” Wilson said. “There is more mercury in one can of tuna than in all of the childhood vaccines combined.”

Still, there can be other side effects from some vaccines. “The ideal vaccine is effective, safe and convenient,” Wilson said. “We don’t yet have that perfect vaccine, but the ones that have been approved are very, very safe.” The most common side effects are mild, like soreness and redness at the injection site, or just generally not feeling well, possibly with a low grade fever or headache.

Very rarely, people have more serious allergic, autoimmune or neurological reactions. “Still, the rate of consequences is so low that the benefit of vaccination far outweighs the risk,” Wilson said. “Whether or not a child is vaccinated, they will be exposed to the disease. Those with natural disease face the risk of severe illness, permanent injury such as blindness, deafness, developmental delay, paralysis or even death. They will either get very sick without the vaccine or get the antigen with the vaccine and stay well.”

Unfortunately,
In order to save the population, it is necessary to infect everybody.

That's what the vaccine does, it infects you with COVID.
And the people who are vaccinated are contagious.

So if you are not vaccinated, you will be surrounded with people who are vaccinated, infected and contagious.
Have a good time.
But you see the dilemma?
As more people are vaccinated, your chances of being infected increase more and more also.

If Pfizer and BioNTech’s trial continues to go well, their vaccine could be the first of its kind to reach the market. Unlike many other available vaccines, it’s not a live virus that has been weakened, a virus that has been killed, nor a signature viral protein that can dupe cells into producing protective antibodies. Instead, this vaccine relies on messenger RNA (mRNA for short), a type of genetic material that our cells can use as an instruction manual to kick off the process of building virus-busting antibodies. The exciting aspect of this mRNA vaccine—besides its likely efficacy—is that it opens the door for more vaccines like it that can be brought to market

HI everybody! I'm VACCINATED! (it's completely safe).

I do wear a mask regularly in my daily work and activities like grocery shopping, going to Home Depot, Guitar Sinner, etc. When performing, none of us wear masks.

I do know two people who have contracted Covid-19 (and survived without hospitalization) and we collectively know 3 people who sadly died within 24 hours of receiving the vaccine.

I was very concerned when my parents decided to take the vaccine. My dad had no problems but my mom had a severe reaction to the shot and was very nearly hospitalized. Her doctor has said she may not be able to take the second shot.

I'm not against anybody who elects to receive the vaccine. My record of sickness (requiring hospitalization) following 8 years of flu vaccinations in the military is enough to make me wave off. I've never been - sick outside of those vaccinations - other than sinus infections, brought on by allergies and the flu when I was a kid.

Some of our immune systems may function differently from others and this might explain some of the complications I (and others) have experienced.

The band is split down the middle on the subject. Two members are against it, but took the vaccine only to be able to travel internationally later this year. Two elected to receive it, one is universally for it and I'm not in favor.

I do not believe that I am invincible or anything along those lines and I am in continued hopes of good fortune for one and all. I've been so sickened from vaccinations that I'm leery of going through that again. Needless to say, without my music income, we would lose our home, so like most things, it's a calculated risk.

Now, for example, if I was to be hired by Fender, it's quite likely I would be forced to take the vaccine. My physician said that, based on my past history, if I do take the vaccine, he will hospitalize me as soon as the vaccine is administered for a minimum of 24-36 hours for observation, and I will tell you that I'm not looking forward to that, but I may have to do it.

Any feedback from Fender since the interview?

One of our mutual friends was diagnosed with Covid-19 in October of 2020. I'm a real introvert, so I'm not hanging out with people, but I know him from another music group.

He sent me this image of what his doctor gave to him:

The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is a shot designed to prevent the coronavirus in people aged 18 and older. It is made up of an adenovirus that has been modified to contain the gene for making a protein from SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19. As such, the vaccine does not contain the virus and cannot cause Covid

Congrats on the vaccine! Hope they get your missus one soon. Lots of states are lifting restrictions and dosing more and more. If the words are true, by the end of may every adult should have one

Thanks! She really needs to get over to Korea to see her mom. Her mom has a fatal lung disease for which there is no cure. We don't know how
much time she has left and it would suck for my to miss seeing her again because of this damn virus! She already missed her last trip because of it...

Is that the one suspended now in Europe?

Yes it is , here in Canada they were giving it to the age groups of ages 60-64, because at the time there was not enough data for 65 and over, but in the last 3 weeks the data that has now been received shows they can give it now to age groups 65 and over. Canada Health has announced today to give shots as well to 65 and over.

In Europe they have halted AstraZeneca, due to the fact a few people had had blood clots, but can not confirm it came from the shot itself, also the shots that went to Europe are different batches from different plants, than the ones that came to North America.

The shots that are now being administered in Canada at this time, are Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca.
