Dave Mustaine & the new Gibson Alliance...

I actually don't like any of them. When he had Jackson's I wanted one. When he moved to Dean, I was immediately struck with a need to own one. These make me want to cringe. Not liking this new collab.
Im a devout Gibson guy but this admittedly seems like a step backwards rather than forwards. It just doesnt fit him or his style

He seemed "odd" in that little clip.

May be clean and sober now, but, to me, he has that look and speech pattern that people get from alcohol damage, also seems a little more "kind" and not so sarcastic.

Good for Dave.

I'm thinking this will be as short lived as his ESP ventures. Gibson will push a "Axxion" style guitar on him, and he'll be gone. At least that's the way it should be.

As for the Gibson and Epi versions of the "V" they just don't suit DM. Not pointy enough and looks wrong. I entered the guitar world in early 1990's and the Kramer brand was just junk to me.

Glad I bought a Dean VMNT early and still have it.

Hey Ghost, what is the finish on that VMNT of yours? Nitro? It is USA made?

Not USA, Korean, and it's a print under a gloss finish.

Anyway, good for Dave, good for Gibson. Looks like I'm the only one here that thinks this is a great endorsement for him.
You're not the only one, gball! Gibson is more than capable of creating well built and beautiful guitars. Gibson is on a very aggressive agenda of survival and pride. I expect Gibson to make very wise decisions with their new team of chiefs. I also expect more "surprise" artists to join the Gibson bandwagon. And another thing... When Gibson is doing well, it brings other manufacturer's game up, too. This industry needs Gibson to be very successful.

I know I will not be ditching any of my instruments one way or another, I too am glad to see Dave on board, not sure I care for the new look , but it took a long while before I embraced the Dodge truck change way back in the early 90’s.
Cheers

I agree with Ghostman and others. The Jacksons and Deans were great, these?.....meh, not so much.

After awhile Dave will move on. I think even though Dave has attained a certain level of "niceness" from being sober, his perfectionist prick attitude will eventually lead to the end of this relationship like so many that came before

Dave will always be Dave

I love the man and I take inspiration from him.

@clockworknike will agree from his experience working with me.
