So I went from the FB side of the nut out 12.75 inches and landed dead on the 12th fret (actual fret, not dot). The I measured 12.75 from there, and that is where I landed.

Is it because the tele "plate" bridge mount allows you to ride OVER the pup cavity?

It does seem like the cavity could be too close, but maybe it's an illusion. On my two Teles the measurement between the apex of the high E saddle and the bridge pups high E pole is about 1 3/8 inches. Can you estimate what your project Tele is?

I forgot I had a blade for the bridge pup! It does seem that the bridge pup is about 1/4 inch further back than in your case and possibly most instances, but it looks like I am in the ballpark of those specs.

Actually, since you are using a humbucker for the bridge pickup, having the whole pickup closer to the bridge should still give you an overall bright tone. I bet the pup will have to be adjusted pretty close to the strings. If you're using 500k pots and you think the tone is on the bright side, 250k's will reduce some high end intensity. I know for sure that this guitar is going to turn out real nice. Can't wait to hear clips of this one... :fingersx:

I think you are correct on all counts. Unfortunately, I try to avoid bright bridge pups. There is always a work-around though!

Dono, I had a yard stick. It is not all it is cracked up to be. When I was 9, I was getting ready to go swimming but had to pee first.
Just my luck, I was wearing cut off jeans shorts that day. Never made it to the pool. I got my yard stick caught in my zipper and had to go to the hospital to get it extracted. Now it needs one of those little 1.5 inch add ons like Ray has.

Yea, yards sticks are a dime a dozen. For the work I do, I got a 48 incher :pound-hand:
 
Ray, I would like to see that MAP.

I know I could figure it out, but I really would possibly love to rout the control cavity bigger on my PRS to reorient and add volume pot in a better spot for me ergonomically wise.

Definitely would be smart to see the tricks on how you and Hack are going about this.
