Home made pickups?

If you guys keep this up, I just may do it. Please have mercy and stop!

A machine such as that would certainly make a nice addition to a shop, no?

What would wire, magnets, bobbins, pole peices wax and alnico magnets cost?

Hell i dont know but look at the cool pups you could wind. Nickel covers ect. But the down side to this is you either pull the pups on some of the guitars you got now to try them or you buy more guitars.

Metal HB covers can be gotten for approx $ 1.50 each, so an HB would cost approx $ 25 in materials. Actually more than I thought!

Ya it might be like those places that change ur oil for 29$ .I cant do it myself for that.

Y'know, RVA...

You could always get it and sell the pickups to recover your money.

You say the materials would cost you $25.00?

You could sell 'em for...say...$25.50. I'd buy a couple at that price!

You'd only have to sell a thousand to pay for the winding machine!

Ah, Smitty, the voice of reason!!

If I did get it, it would be for hobby's sake. And I would gladly sell them here for cost as soon as I could wind pups worthy of a guitar. It is only time and temptation to buy guitars to put them in that hold me back. One of my main motivators for buying "husks" as you call them, is to depleate my draw of quality pups. Only about 10 more sets to go!!
