On an unfinished fretboard I use a file and sandpaper.
On a finished board I use a AA battery or a socket wrench and run it along the edge. You can't shape the edge this way as much as with a file, but it will take the sharp edge off of a board.

Gotta plan ahead.
I haven't had a neck that really needed it in the last 25 years. The last one the made me uncomfortable was that otherwise rubber necked MIM Standard that I had for a week in 1995.
Great Teles folks. Love Teles. Mine started life as a 2015 Fender 50s Road Worn Series. MIM with all American parts which are probably in the trash can by now hahahaha. Thing is modded to hell and back. Early 70s original DiMarzio Super Distortion, Cut down Andy Sommers billet brass bridge with adjustable brass string saddles. Custom electronics with front pickup tore out. Selector switch tore out with custom control plate made be me. Mark Jenny custom relic Telecaster neck with vintage tuners. Custom strap by Brad at Well Hung guitar straps. This thing slays and believe it or not is my best sounding guitar to tune down. I love it to death.

I prefer to build my own. Not really Teles I know, but I love the Tele shape and with comfort contours they are very comfortable to hold and play. All mine are Warmoth and have short scale necks.
