Hook Wizard amp

What kind of work are you doing on it? Motorized pots scare me. Are they as "reliable" as the motorized tuners on Gibson guitars, that seem to have fallen by the wayside?

It may be a cool idea, but I'm still a firm believer of having a very good tube amp that is versatile with turning of guitar knobs and occasional minimal use of amp knobs. Then getting the more outlandish sounds from a few pedals.

Granted, if I was in a cover band trying to cover several decades and genres, this would probably be a nice amp to own.

Ivan yes DC heaters 12.6 VDC pin 4 6.3 VDC pin 9 when it crashes voltage drops down to .025 volts and then rebounds back to having sound.
Heyboer transformers they are buzzing not in a good way. Thinking about pulling the preamp board look for a cold solder joint.
And the customer claims it had this issue out of the box. I got it to crash no sound five times now.
My amp meter spikes 1 to 2 amps just before no sound.

Leendert the builder thinks it's a bad 7812 voltage regulator. I use them for 12V relays never have for a heater supply.
Curious to see how this all sorts out, Steve. How old an amp is this? What do you suppose makes the Heyboers make the bad sound? Are they experiencing a failure or are they the cause of some of the symptoms? or is something else like u said the 7812 causing them to react and thus sound " not in a good way?"

You also have me scratching my education on amp design to this point from you, Ivan, DonP and all my books and videos to understand " heater supply" and where it normally comes from. ( I think I know) but won't embarrass myself.

These are the kinds of things I got first chasing in my AMP repairs Cherry Popping ventures with my good friends here encouraging me I could solve them.
