Teaser track from the forthcoming Sloven album

Dave Sloven

Ambassador of DOOM!
Country flag
My two Schecter guitars with the Bare Knuckle Black Hawks and my Squier bass with the Quarter Pounds and Audere preamp are featured in this recording, together with my JSX and 6534+

Rhythm guitar left (dirty) is me on the Stiletto through the JSX crunch channel and a Weber Legacy speaker 412, rhythm guitar right is Josh on the C-1 through the 6534+ and an Orange 412 with V30s. Lead (not much in this song from memory, might just be on the other songs) is Josh on the C-1 through the lead channel of the JSX. All clean parts on the album are on the JSX, anything on the left is me with the Stiletto. The bass was recorded both dry into the desk and through a fuzz into a Hartke LH1000 into a 410 with Eminence Delta-10 speakers

Nice recording, plenty of power in the guitar, nice and tight too. After listening to that I've started thinking about skinning the dog and throwing the wife off the roof...

'Teaser track' - I thought that video would have you in a thong, Dave. :io:

All the rhythm tracks feature the alnico version of the Bare Knuckle Black Hawk. Fantastic pickup for this genre but we must be one of the first bands in the genre to use it on an album. I'm not aware of others. It has quite a distinctive mid-range roar.

WELL DONE!!!! VERY GOOD --- this was done??? at HOME????

A friend of ours has a recording desk in his house, microphones etc, we recorded it there each weekend through February and March. He goes under the name Luna Recordings and this is the second recording he has done in his house, the first one was an EP of Josh's and Sam's old band Vyruden, and it came out pretty close to what he was doing recording in other people's studios, so we did it there too and saved a lot of money.

Great tones, tight playing, good songs!

I'd say all the boxes are checked, really great bro.

Keep posting, you guys have a lot of talent, very interested to see where it takes us.

Once again, outstanding, the band should be proud!

It took Adam (our drummer) and I a while to get used to recording to a click track. Josh and Sam had done it before with Vyruden so they found it a lot easier. But yeah we made sure it was tight by lining up with the click

This is the oldest song on the album. This is the list of songs in order with duration and year first played (recorded in terms of the newest one, hasn't been played live yet) and writing credit:

1. Drowning (10:21) - 2019, music by Dave, Josh, and Sloven, lyrics by Josh
2. The Pilgrimage (9:04) - 2018, music by Josh and Sloven, lyrics by Josh
3. Autogenocide (8:44) - 2016, music by Dave and Sloven, lyrics by Bryce (old vocalist)
4. Chorus of Despair (7:53) - 2020, music by Josh and Sloven, lyrics by Josh
5. Simian Apocalypse (11:09) - 2017, music by Dave and Sloven, lyrics by Dave

Two of them have been previously released, but that demo is awful. Definitely not recorded to a click. I had never even worn cans while recording before, my only previous recording experience was recording songs live in the studio for a demo for a d-beat crust punk band. This album was my third studio recording experience and the first one that lasted more than a day
