Birds-----reverse vs non reverse.........................

I had a similar experience. Always wanted a nonreverse 'bird - until I played one.
Both of mine are the Studio model, with non-neck-through construction and regular size .humbuckers.
 
OK OK OK, These Birds ( NON PRS Fretboard type) HAVE me so confused.

I thought Reverse meant the bodies were reversed. But it seems the original reverse is the headstock type.
Then I see in the one video, the desirable reverse if the early 60's reverse head. NOT Reversed body.
As for my tastes, having never played, picked up or really even barely glanced at Birds in any stores. I actually prefer the NON reverse Body and NoN reverse Head. Although I don't dislike the reversed head ones. MY definite opinion though, is I do NOT like the Reverse body ones. THAT's it

It's the body and headstock. Here are my two and the one that I sold...

Reverse (the original):

This is my 2016 FB V (pickguard and truss rod cover courtesy Creamtone, not stock). This one has the Steinbergers, but the row of tuners is on the bottom portion of the headstock and the low E is farthest away from you.

This is my 2019 FB I reverse and it has Grovers that hang down the bottom, low E still way out there (and I think this stringing with the low E at the end and longest and high E closest and shortest is a factor in how these guitars "feel" which helps set them apart)

Non-reverse:

This is the 2015 non-reverse that I had and recently sold. It has the tuners up top and strings with the low E closest to you like a Fender. I never really bonded with this guitar the way I have with the other two. It just didn't have that Firebird swagger the way that the reverse body ones do, and that giant upper horn felt really strange while playing.

Honestly, the Zero is as far removed from a real Firebird as one can get.
To me a true Firebird is the multi piece neck thru construction.
That makes for one beautiful guitar.

I am really confused. I would be calling this one Reversed.

I guess that is because The body seems backwards. The neck and head stock are oriented like any regular inline 6, but for Birds I always felt that having the long low E string was the norm.

IT is ACTUALLY (the zero) more a REAL reverse-- of the reverse --- so IMHO is TRULY the NON REVERSE

where as the "non revers" should be called something else (like a Storm Bird--- or Black Hawk-- -or offset bird) --

I have one of those little Bullet Mustangs in black....a little setup work, and it’s an ok little player. The pickups are not the greatest, but they do have character...I might change them out still.

Here's the thing - classic Firebird body shape is called reverse simply because the lower horn is longer than the upper, the reverse of most guitars.
Non-reverse is the one that's similar to other guitars like the Fender offsets. For decades I called that one reverse since it's backwards from a regular 'Bird.
It's all pretty counterintuitive, and I had to retrain myself to think of the standard 'Bird shape as technically being a reverse type design.
