How is Everyone Doing?

As for the thread title, things just feel kind of weird.

I think this is being handled as well as can be expected by the authorities. I really have no complaints on that front.

We in Maryland haven't gone to quite the measures of New York or California, though I'm afraid that may be coming soon.

Most things are shut down and I don't do anything outside the house except go to work. Nothing I want to do outside the house is open, anyway.

Personally, I'm dealing fine with the "social distancing" thing and staying put here at the house. The family is doing okay with things, too.

I've been contemplating some changes to my guitar rig and watching a lot of Youtube!

the public in general are selfish a-holes--- thats what PANIC buying "is" --at its core --

"I dont need this "widget" -- but -- I MIGHT and I dont want YOU to have it so..........IM BUYING IT"

there is a figure floating around of 45% of the meat and dairy purchased in "panic" shopping will go to wast because people without ability to keep it fresh buy it and it spoils...............................
really????? idiots

Stayed home today since I hadn’t been feeling 100% for a few days. A bit of research and a wife with experience in the matter. I am dealing with allergies. I’m 65 and all of a sudden I have allergies? Really crappy timing.

Anyway. Had a planned vacation day for Monday so looking at a four day weekend. Before end of day the governor of Illinois closed all non essential businesses till April 7. Grocery store are considered essential so they stay open as well as gas stations and many other places considered “essential.” Won’t matter. People are still going to be stupid and clean everything off the grocery shelve that isn’t bolted down.

FEEL BETTER man!!!

there was a SIGN at walmart today -- they had 4 cases of paper towels---normally a whole 40 ft long RACK of them.............but 4 cases...and a SIGN "take 1 per customer"
and people tossing 4-5 -10 rolls in the cart and walking off .............................
now -- by Karmic law-------- SHOULD I BE ALLOWED TO SHOOT AND KILL THEM ????????
I mean I wanted to----but that might require MORE paper towels we dont HAVE at the moment...............................

these are hard decisions people!

Once I figured out I didn’t have it.... if you know what I mean..... felt better immediately. Thanks for the thoughts though. At my advanced age, pretty sure I don’t want to catch this bug.

Pretty quiet here. Our old house closed escrow on Tuesday, so no more mortgages and cash in the bank. Contractor finished the studio floor this week and I got 2x4s to start working on the air gapped walls. We’ll do a grocery store run tomorrow but a normal buy, no panic buying for us.

But we did have a visitor today. That’s the empty lot to the east of us. About 50 ft from our driveway.

Really cool to see a bobcat. You don't often get a chance. I got close up and personal with a lynx about 20 years ago close to my cabin. Haven't seen one in real time since.

I think there are three possible reasons behind the tendency to stock up in a time like this:

1. People are trying to minimize their exposure. So, by buying large quantities at a time, they will have to go to the store less often, reducing their exposure to others.

2. If a person is at all fearful of getting sick, that person may stock up because that person may be quarantined and may not be allowed to go back to the store for some time.

3. Some people may just be stocking up because they think that those who fit into the first two categories are going to buy everything up. So, some people may be stocking up just because they are afraid everything is going to be unavailable for some time.
I'll buy all that... :yesway:

We just bought this place in October. The previous owners says we’ll see lots of deer, bobcats, coyotes and bears (You don’t see mountain lions, they are stealth). I’m thinking if I’m outside after dark I might just carry a side arm.

Back home from Maine. Pretty beat up from work. Made a liquor store run, and that was it because it was too late. Took a walk downtown to shake off being a drunken veal calf in a hotel room for the past two weeks. Going to try to get some stuff for the cellar and garage projects tomorrow, and maybe some odd food shopping. Have to go back to Bangor again on Monday. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to work from home (online training, etc) for a bit after that.

I feel bad for anyone who is self employed or in the service industry who won't be eligible for unemployment benefits. I know I bitch about my situation from time to time, but in real life I am quite lucky, and thankful.

No changes here in SoCal really at all. I am still working and still commuting. I am not the only car on the road either like some of the photos we are seeing depict.

While some folks may be staying indoors, it sure doesn't look like it from my perspective.

Getting on the 5 freeway at Sunland Street this afternoon in Sun Valley, California, there were quite a few cars waiting at the light to get on the ramp.

Grocery stores are well stocked, except for toilet paper, hand sanitizer, Lysol, etc. Stores have posted signs that they won't accept returns on these items.

Just another day, Man...

I was out and about in my neighborhood going after pizza. Still plenty of people on my roads as well. Those that were coming home from work. That’s gonna change tonight at 9:00. Governor shut down all non essential business till at least April 8. Obviously even though everyone at the press conference stressed to not panic, that there is no shortage on grocery items... Yep. 10:00 news showed totally empty shelves at the stores. People dragging two overflowing carts to their cars.

Once again approving. The only shortages are people with brains and common sense.
