Just Scored Eric Johnson Tickets!

He's playing down the street on Feb. 28. It's still under presale, and I don't have a code.

Way back in a time we called "the 80's" lol, I met Mr. Johnson after a show he did in Chicago.

The show itself was jawdropping, almost too much great guitar playing, but here's the point of this post.

He was the most friendly, down to Earth "Rockstar" you could hope for, he actually seemed to be more into talking gear and tunes more than we were! No phoniness, no pretensions, just like talking with one of you people. I swear he would have kept talking music all night with us geeks lol.

If you get the opportunity to speak with him, no need to be nervous, just be prepared because if you bring up Jimi Hendrix, SRV, or Strats he is an encyclopedia.

Seems like a real genuine dude!

P.S.
His girlfriend was SRV's girlfriend's best friends, they were roomies for a while.

Talk about your cut rate couch hero's! JK, think the world of him as a person, good guy to his fans.

Yesterday I posted to Eric Johnson’s Facebook page that I was stoked about getting a couple of tickets to his concert in this area.

He “Liked” my post.

So, I suppose that means we’re best buds now, right?

I mean, hey...I am even playing a Strat in my Facebook profile image!

He’s gotta think I’m cool, right?

Right?

Sounds pretty logical to me... :2Thumbs:

I‘m hoping I get a chance to talk to him for a couple of minutes. He is exactly my kind of guitar player and composer.

You know, it's funny.... I've always got the impression that a lot of people know that EJ is a good guitarist. But very few know what a tremendously talented and artistic guitarist he really is. And, nobody does the "Violin" tone better than EJ... :dood:

I too always opt for the physical tix to be mailed to me. I hate etix, except when I need it.

Yeah. I like having that physical object.

I‘ve got them safely stowed away...right next to my Brian Setzer tickets, who I am seeing next month!

Saw him last night at The Cabot Theatre, which is a nice old theatre down the street from me, and in New Hampshire on Thursday. Last night was amazing. The sound system is excellent, and the Cabot Theatre has very nice acoustics. He played one of his earlier signature Strats for most of the night, with exceptions for a Les Paul on two tunes, and acoustic for a few tunes, and then piano for several tunes. You could tell the band was having fun last night night.

Thursday night was a horror show. The venue hadn’t turned the heat on, and the sound wasn’t very good. Eric switched guitars twice in the middle of the first song. Then swapped guitars every song as they wouldn’t stay in tune.

Behind the Fenders is a Dumble. To the left of the cab were two more older Marshall A cabs. One for the Dumble, and one with a late ‘60s Plexi sitting on it.

I see him this Friday. Good to hear your review!

Are you talking about that amp head sitting perpendicular behind the Fender heads? I think that is a Two Rock head.

I know he likes Two Rock amps and has had them in his rig for quite awhile.

Is that what it was? I heard he also liked Dumbles, and it looked like an Overdrive Special from the brief peek I had of it.
