This was posted on the wall over a urinal at one of my favorite brew pubs, so it MUST be true!

To my friends and relatives who enjoy a glass of wine or beer...
As Ben Franklin said:
"In wine there is wisdom.
In beer there is freedom
In water there is bacteria."

In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. coli) - bacteria found in feces.
In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop.

However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

Remember:
Water = Poop,
Wine = Health.

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of poop.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information:

I'm doing it as a public service.

I like the way your think.

Well apparently the grocery store is full of Streptococcus since I ended up in the ER this past Sat @ 3am because I couldn't breathe or swallow - it felt like a rock in my throat. They admitted me for the weekend with a strep infection around my trachea -- which totally explains my curious weeklong absence that I just know you were all wondering about.

Left ear is still full of fluid and now I'm on antibiotics and steroids trying to clear it up. Lesson: wash your damn hands every chance you get, there's some dirty forkers in this world and beer ain't saving you from that.
Whoa had no clue bro.
Glad that you are on the mend.
I know how important your last sentence is, because my wife is on me all the time about it.
Here’s to a speedy recovery.
Positive vibes and mojo at ya..
Cheers Mitch

In Colonial times nobody drank water anywhere near a city or town - it wasn't safe.

Only the very rich could afford wine.

Everybody else drank beer - men, women and children. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. In fact, many broke their fast with beers alone.

Breakfast as the full meal we know it today didn't come about until the nineteenth century. Or so I'm told.
