Yes! I think it looks very cool. Get it set up properly, and kick some
honkie butt...
There are lots of "Fender" guitars about which are made of odd bits.
Leo Fender designed the parts to be interchangeable. So it's not a new Idea.
I think it's pretty cool that the neck pockets will fit the necks of almost
whatever you have available. Let's hear it for parts casters, unless they are
made of stolen parts.
My own personal Telecaster was designed by Fender in 1971
with a Strat neck, and a pair of Fender "Wide Range" hum bucking p'ups,
as well as a "hardtail" bridge, string through the body and individual bent
steel saddles. This one's wired just like a Les Paul.

These features cause many Telecaster 'purists" to glance at my guitar and
then look away, as if it gave them a headache.
I don't give a fig... I have no patience for purists of any kind. I bought
this Telecaster because I wanted what this guitar could do. I don't care
if it doesn't look like a 'regular" Tele, or sound like a regular Tele.
When I use it, it's because I want this tone for a song I intend to play.
It's got tens on it right now.
I really love this guitar. It was hard to master for a while, until I took it to
a great luthier and got it set up perfectly, and then the love fest could begin.
Love the maple neck, whatever profile it is. It feels great and it looks great.
This Tele weighs about 8 pounds, and balances perfectly. It has a totally
unique tone, in between Gibson and Fender. Perfect for some of my songs.
Mine is a replica, MIM in 2006. It is an excellent instrument.
Painted in black Polyurethane, its durable and practical... and
nearly bulletproof. I've owned it for ten years. No dings, no scratches,
no problems. I could deck a crazed fan who leaped onstage with this
guitar, and not even go outa tune. Except my music doesn't seem to
ever inspire this kind of crazy. *shrugs
The only mods I've done to it is to install new wiring with 500k CTS pots
and Switchcraft toggle and jack. I believe this improves the tone over the
Fender 250k pots that were stock. Maybe a little...

So now that you know a little about me, you might understand that I feel
a kinship to your Tele above, and would love to have one like it... except
that I already have mine, so I'm not shopping.
Anyway, IMHO the only reason a guitarist couldn't get a great tone out of
the OP Fender is if
he didn't think he could. Because he thought that the shape
of the neck had something to do with tone. Telecaster with a humbucker in the
neck and the Texas special bridge p'up ought to sound awesome.
Oh and I like Stevie Ray Vaughn a lot...
