Song Pong is a musical game similar to ping pong. One member starts by adding a single track, uploads it in a thread here. Any other member can download the track, play something over the original track while recording and then post the results up here. For example the first person lays down a rhythm track and uploads it. Second person comes in and lays down a lead track and uploads it. Then a bass track can get added and uploaded.

This was done a long time ago in a place far far away. Here are some samples.

Here is a track where Don (drum track using Ableton Live, and guitar rhythm on his G400). I downloaded the track to my computer, recorded my lead track and then uploaded this track. Anita joined in with her bass track and this is Don, Anita and myself.

Here is Don and Kerry. This John hofacker and me.

You can download a free DAW Audacity here.

Just a technical suggestion: Audacity can handle the FLAC formato of audio compression, which is lossless. Even cooler might be a place to store full Audacity projects in the net.

My band mates record with I phones. What software would I need to separate each song into it's own sound file.
Using Windows 7 pro or Windows 10. The sound files are 45 to 60 Min. long. I would like to cherry pick some of the songs.

Most DAW software programs can handle this if the original files are recorded in a compatible format.
I use Reaper to do this. Our rehearsal sessions are recorded in big chunks(60-90 minutes long). If I want to cherry pick a single song, I highlight the song, and choose to render the highlighted area to a separate file(s).

I have no idea

That’s cool bro, I only have my phone!
And nothing else, but this is a cool little thread right here!
Cheers Mitch

The work around I would be familiar with is have my grandson plug his phone into the pa play it back loud and I play to it live

If you want to record track by track...multitrack stuff I use this...

I made this on an iPhone 4s, in my living room...
You can use the iPhone mic, and plug in headphones to monitor etc.
Or use something like Wav mentioned...my recording was done with an Apogee Jam.

I’ve also just used it to record events, and rehearsals.

The only thing that plugs into my phone is the charger
