There's an Anderton's video. Chappers is blindfold, and The Captain is playing various guitars. He picks up one and strums it. "Well that's an SG" says Chappers. The Captain asks him why and he just says because that is what an SG sounds like. OK, Chappers is definitely a connoisseur, but nevertheless this is proof that there is more to a guitar than a piece of wood and some pickups.

There are strings, tuners, glue and other bits and pieces.

Don't agree with you on this one, TM. Simplying my rebuttal: If you were to use the same pickups on a standard LP and a standard SG, the LP will always sound beefier, scoopier, with more sustain than the inherently midrangier SG. Even acoustically, these same traits will be evident. Now apologize to the Tonewood Godz...

Unless you change the EQ.
A 31 band graphic can make any guitar sound way different.
I thought we were talking about playing through amplifiers here.
Of course they will sound different when played acoustically.
Mahogany is not maple is not spruce is not etc.
All 3 of my 335s sound different acoustically.
So do all 3 of my SGs.
Etc.
