Owned-since-new, this 1997 VS265 2X12 Stereo Chorus Combo has seen a lot of use. Not long ago, I noticed the headphone jack was loose. I ordered the correct "crab style" jack and had a local amp guy solder it in. The amp guy found no other bad solder joints during his inspection. I also just changed the tube as a preventative measure.

The amp has a couple of issues. I wanted to seek some advice here and address the problems personally.

First, the amp is noisy when its running. Kind of a light hum that is present through my Fuhrman SS-6B or wall outlets at different locations.

The pots and momentary push buttons are scratchy/crackly, bit I figure some De-Ox It F5 will help that aspect.

The other issue is a more pronounced hum when the chorus is engaged. I looked and it would seem that chorus function is simply a chip, so not much csn be done there.

Thoughts???

oh sorry --- I was goofing off-----

no spray in and TURN the pot full on and full closed -- or the switch flip on off on off on off -- repeat test-- repeat test -- repeart test --- (ugh tiored) -- and you should be good

dry any excess overspray off the finish ----- if your spraying from the top-- if your spraying in the cavity -- then no worries

Hey, on my VS265, the RED and BLACK RCA's for the Reverb tank are not marked RED or BLACK on the board. Does it matter which one goes where???

Helped with the scratchy pots and push buttons, but chorus is still nosy. Good enough for a loud club amp.

Ok...right now I am looking at picking up a cream puff, one-owner Valvestate 2x12 to use as my main amp. This old Valvestate will become #2 and the primary amp for the 12 string side when using the doubleneck.

I'm looking at it and thinking the red Mojotone grill cloth needs to go...

Can anyone correctly identify this cloth???

I think this is a decent look....either this or early JTM black and tan. The 6" gold script is a nice touch too...

Or, even easier, I could spray that tough-ass Mojotone burlap cloth black with some upholstery paint....

Thoughts???

That doesn't look like Marshall grillcloth. You'd probably be better off with the Black and Tan look, IMO.
