Well for me it's coming up to 5 years in July. I can't believe how fast this four and three quarter years have gone by. I keep as busy as I like to be. Through the Spring, Summer, Fall as you know I am a die hard Camper and R/C Pilot and of course guitar as well. Do some playing around the campfires with friends and so on. Through the winter months continue with lessons, do some gigs throughout my Community and back into our winter mode I call it. Seeing friends and Family, plus you know the regular appointments etc. My Wife keeps busy as well, helping out in our community. We like to travel in the nicer weather so we take day trips visit different places get into some small towns where they have unique shops etc. We are enjoying our Retirement!! Every day is Saturday! We have good health Life is good!

Retirement--- thats a concept that is not even on my plate as its not going to be an option -- I may be forced at some point NOT to work.....but several large real estate losses have conspired to REMOVE the initial "plan" that included retirement and now--- there is NOT enough years left to make back the "nest egg"

Sounds like you got the right attitude and a real good routine. Maybe I can learn from you. More power to you... :cheers:

I guess I'm retired.
I weighed what I made at work against what my time and happiness was worth and quit the rat race several years ago with the blessings of my wife.
I've never looked back.
Frivolous spending cash may be a little tighter, but that's compared to what I used to piss away regularly.
Now I mostly do what I want to do.
Makes it nice to go visit pops, and meet up with eESGe at least monthly and generally goof off.
All week long to do what used to be crammed into a weekend.

It works for me.
 
Retirement? I turn 65 in August and can’t imagine retiring. Right now I run my own consulting business and have two part time jobs just to keep up with my GAS. No way I could afford to retire.

Truthfully I enjoy what I do too much to retire yet.

I’m probably at least 2 years from being able to call it quits. At least the daily drive 50 minute to and 50 minutes home. I am so ready to be done with that. However, I don’t see me not doing something..... part time. You know the gig..... “would y’all like a cart?”
 
In 4 years I can retire with 50% of my current income. I won't be able to support my family at that level,
so my plan is to retire and make up the other 50% with a new, groovy, and low-stress part-time job.
 
I was forced to retire because of health issue's but I am doing a lot better now. Gonna stay retired....:D
 
The wife is retiring in June. I was going to retire at the end of the year but will probably work through 2020 to buy more toys to add to the retirement asset pool :D Life is good and the job is low stress.

Heck, I was just looking at Peavey amps....
 
Well so for, 8 months into it I have traveled to FL 2x, once for pleasure and once to help move my mother-in-law from Del Ray to Tallahassee. I spend a few days a week volunteering at the Clydesdale Preservation Foundation doing maintained work for them. Mostly electrical so far. Also learned how to sleep past 4:30 in the morning. Able to sleep till 6 a.m. now.
 
Retired 12 years ago at age 56, only one regret ... should have done it earlier.
When people ask me what I'm going to do tomorrow I usually tell them I don't make plans that far into the future.
Get out of bed whenever I feel like it (usually about 7:00am) ease myself into the day with coffee. It's usually 9 before I formulate activity for the day.
As John Lennon said, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans."
Not original but my motto has become "I choose to be happy", people fail to understand happiness is a choice.
