What happened to the Gibson website?

I just visited the Gibson website. It used to be pretty nice, with info on several years of guitars, not just the current line. But it seems the have changed the site, and the new one is complete crap compared to the old one. Only info on the 2019 line, no CS guitars, no historical section with articles on various things like they used to have. WTF???

really???
looks like Gibbo is getting back to BASICS and
Welcome to the New Gibson Brands

fewer models--- nothing radical no TRIBUTE models(well 1) -- or low end lines -- the Zero and M2 are gone-----not even a LES PAUL JR!?!?!?!?!?!
Only the 2019 models are shown on the new website. The cool thing about the old site was that you could find models from the last four years or so, and there wes a section of articles on lots of other stuff. And if you searched for, let's say a 2011 SG Standard on Google, you would get a hit from that Gibson website with a link taking you to info on that model. Now, all you get is a link to the 2019 models. Bollocks!

I see what you're saying.

Maybe you could use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page to ask the question.

I don't know if you'll get an answer, but it's worth a shot.

Since they are in the process of simplifying the product line, they may have wanted to roll this much of the website out to show the product and the other features may be added back in later.

I don't know...

Far more, or should I say far less going on than a streamlined 2019 offering. Look at what's *not* there now, even with the 2019 model.
I hope this is temporary. It has pretty much been gutted of models and specs and has been rendered pretty much useless as a resource. Wonder if the dealers will be given likewise stripped down specs for their listings.
Not good news at all if this this severe lack of information is indicative of the direction Gibson is going. Not good at all.

A few days ago i found the section on my bass which was made in 2011.

And just a few seconds ago i could see guitars available from 2015 - possibly those which are not sold out.

Where on the site do you find this? All I can see are the 2019 models. A couple of days ago the old site was still there, now it has totally changed.

This is interesting.

On the page giving the biographical info on the new leadership, they have SGs as the background, not Les Pauls, as I would have expected.

I wonder if they are trying to project an more edgy attitude?

About Gibson Brands, Inc.
Well, the new website sure is crap compared to the old one... It used to be a very nice resource of info on various years, products and artists. Now it's less informative than most regular guitar stores selling Gibsons online.

maybe folks were reading up on older models and BUYING older models on the used market instead of new ones?????
Well, I'm sure you are right. But a company like Gibson should be proud of their past products. And I'm pretty sure all the good stuff on their old site has served them well in generating good feelings about their company. Feelings which so far have made me, for one, buy three BRAND NEW Gibson guitars form authorized dealers in addition to several used ones (and three brand new Epiphones in addition to that).

Oh I have bought a crap ton of Gibsons .....and sold and traded and .....well you know---BUt those of us HERE on this very forum are not the "normal consumer" :)

we are ABnormal! ;)
