First Snow

Snow's pretty to look at in TV or in pictures, but that's it!
Another hot weather lover here.
If it's below 70 I'm looking for a flannel shirt.
Comfort zone for me is mid to high 80's.

Middle of December here in NE Illinois, over a couple different winter weather events we accumulated about a foot of snow. Had my snow blower out 6 times to clear it. That's more snow and snow blower use than all last winter.

PS: it's all melted. Waiting for the next round.

Third day of mid teens for overnight temperature. 18F outside at this moment. A blistering 56F inside! I'm in thermal undies, sweatshirt, down vest, and heavy flannel bathrobe again! I'm sorry if certain folks may take offense but actually lusting for, and loving snow and ice, appears to this individual, as being mentally unstable! Just an opinion, and I rarely ever offer one.

When in Denver I coined the reference of snow as "Spider Caca."

It's 8:50pm, and I'm sitting in my study with the a/c and a fan on... It's not particularly hot, but it is as humid as hell...

12:55 pm here, and nothing on - just natural house warmth. Are you sure about that being PM, or are you in Hong Kong?

It's supposed to get up to 22^F today, with a low of 11^F tonight.

By Thursday it's supposed to be in the 60's!

I guess this snow will be around for today and gone my mid-Monday or Tuesday.

My wife and I went out to the store and had lunch yesterday. It was great!

Since everyone here is scared spitless of snow, traffic was WAY lighter than normal!

That could go around your way, but we won't get into this. You can say thanks to Mr Climate Change for your inconfort, even if you think he's the Boogie Man.

An old lady coming in my store from a cold blistering rainy day, was telling another one that was complaining of the weather, that there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing.
It's the same for home design. I'ts minus 21°C outside presently and if I touch my inside walls, they are moderately warm to the touch. I have an old pair of wool socks on my feet, and my feet are warm.

But the wood stove is cranked to 11, The tone it emits, you wouldn't believe !

I too, if I was in that trailer with no insulation, would bitch about the cold. But I would know why I'm cold and try to make it so I'm not.

Ex-wife #3 moved to the far northern part of Montana in November. Told her it was a dumb thing to do, but she's nuts anyway. Now I'm laughing myself silly knowing that she's froze stiff! Gotta love that karma huh? Haa!

I don't know...ever lived in an area prone to tornadoes? I'd consider that "bad weather." There's not much to be found in the way of tornado-proof clothing!

But, I get the point.

But, for me it isn't just about the snow. It's about the seasons and the variety that comes with them. I do like snow in the winter...but I don't want it to be non-stop winter! If I had to pick a favorite season (though I don't really have one), it would be fall, just as the leaves start to change, but before they all fall. I like that first chilly snap. It's the time when you need neither the furnace nor the air conditioner. The humidity is low enough to allow the windows to be open, and there's a certain freshness in the air.

But, I can find things I really like about all the seasons. But, the middle of summer when the heat and humidity are at their highest is something I don't really care for.

polar opposite---- I can happily muck about the yard--- building critter pens and doing chores all day ---in august--- with 98 degree temps and 90% humidity-----my arthritis ---bones and joints all work and lubricate MUCH better with sweat ;)
---that and I am working on acclimating to Hell --- ;)

Thought you left hell behind after the divorce, Adrian.

Freezing rain this morning over here.bout fell on my ass taking the dog out this morning.and that was in a gravel driveway

Not talking about extreme weather here. But that's all relative. An inch of snow WILL BE extreme, for a resident of the Republic of Texas, I guess.

Over 8" of snow last night. But, not to bad, it's the fluffy kind. I like winter, cold and snow....

Why though, is it inevitable, that the only time I need to work on Car or other, it's less than 20 degrees out. Makes the normal tasks sooooo much more difficult.

And, why did the mice chew the ignition wires on my snow blower!!??!!
