I couldn't survive those temps.
It's high summer and just past midday here, showing 100'F outside. AC running and it's whatever we want it to be, just now 76'F.
Our lowest winter temp here on the coast could be as low as 50'F, never seen anything starting with a 4.

HAHA Session. I recently heard a story on how some Canadians came down to my area in Maryland one winter and could not get over how cold they were.
It was surmised that just like our humid summers make it seem extra hot, it also makes winter temps go right through you. Supposedly they also mentioned the cold in Canada is low humidity and hence not as raw feeling. Is this true?
 
Just so Mr Gasket knows. The coldest I was ever in was in West Virginia nearly 36 years ago. I spent a few weeks in January in a National Guard Base and the temps at night got down to about minus 26 F and wind chills in the minus 60's.

Correct, 50'F is a cold overnight winter temp.
I have been to the limited Australian sky slopes in winter twice in my 68 years, snow on the ground so technically have felt lower than 50. Was on holiday having fun so didn't take any notice of the actual temp.
 
We live on a narrow coastal plain. Only 1 mile behind us starts a mountain range, up there they can get a winter frost.

Yes its true in Northern, Ontario and also in Alberta in Western Canada. But where I live in South Western Ontario, its humid and because of the dampness its raw so you feel the cold.
 
A high of 54 degrees here along the NW corner of Oregon. Im not far from the mouth of the Columbia River.

And to think some years ago I was going to move to Edmonton. Great city but COLD!

Wow, wow, wow 48'C.
About once a year we will see 44'C and life just about stops for a day. Two years back we had AC installed in our bedroom for those events.
 
Mrs Gasket and I are MotoGP followers. Just showed her your 48' photo and mentioned your 54'. She said that's why the first round held in Qatar each year is a night race.

But have you heard that the football (soccer) World Cup is being held just up the coast in Qatar? 90 minutes of hard physical work are going to be killing players. And they only got it through the corruption of the head of FIFA.

This wasn't even high summer. It was May.
