Please Learn Proper Punctuation....

Oh, oh, oh...I just thought of another pet-peave - pluralizing compound nouns, such as attorney general, brother-in-law, and similar words.

The plural of "attorney general" is "attorneys general." The plural is not "attorney generals."

The plural of "brother-in-law" is "brothers-in-law." The plural is not "brother-in-laws."

I don't know about ya'll, but I'm finding this to be very therapeutic!

Oh, I like to use semicolons on fora; they let you join two sentences together when they are part of a single thought.

One of the most amusing is "chimney." Many years ago I worked in the wood heat industry, selling woodstoves and fireplaces. I've actually heard "chimney" prononced as, "CHIM - bly." Yes, with a "B."

otherwise known as you in the collective sense. Like do yuns need a table for 6?

Also, Gasket, I am pretty sure Walksbackward was not meaning anything as a backhanded demeaning of one's language by his statement.
As I see his statement, the term natural has to do with a focus on Nature as it pertains to their culture world and families. If I interpret him correctly, he juxtaposed this to other languages that were developed from other factors that comprise that language's primary basis, with profanity being one aspect his heritage had no place for. I also don't see Walks as saying the English language as "backwards" to mean like it is lesser, inferior or to belittle it. I believe if he will permit me to voice my interpretation, he intended it to mean that in his mind Lakota is his primary instinct to think and speak in, while backwards means secondary, takes a back seat, or is not as polished for him in his upbringing for how his mind thinks.
I grew up learning English ( albeit with mistakes) then took French in school. I learned enough to understand a lot, yet today I struggle to remember or be able to translate if I read French. But for some reason, if I am around a person who is from France or let's say Switzerland who speaks French, a switch turns on and my memory of how to say certain things in French resurfaces.

Don, I once met a woman who was a year or 2 older than I.
We were probably mid to late 30's at the time and on more than 1 occasion she mentioned taking something out of the freezer to de-thaw it.
Within a day or 2 of knowing this woman, I could see that trying to explain the error of her statement would be futile and anger provoking, SO I passed.

Another woman, a former girlfriend who was not too educated once asked me, " how do you spell Amanda?"
I told her to sound it out. She replied, "I don't want to sound it out"
So I said, "A (UH) MAN, Duh ..." She didn't speak to me for 2 weeks.

Actually, it would be the person operating the gun who did the killing, the same one who was reacting to the words, a rather distinct component in the causal chain.
