The Tone I Dig...

This is the type of sound I'm always looking for. It just gets me. Anytime I hear a tone like this it just draws me in and I get absorbed in the music...

I just heard this again on a playlist 50 Kings of Tone. The guitar player is Robbie Blunt.

I wonder what happened to Robbie Blunt. I think after this album with Robert Plant, he went and played with the Edie Brickell & New Bohemians band. After that, I don't know...

His sounds like a simple signal path to me. Makes sense on the Mark II's for live - with the gain turned down they will get ungodly loud without breakup, then for a little crunch it's just a very small turn of the knob.

I actually saw Robert Cray way back in the 80's when he opened for SRV, then recently saw him in early '18. His playing was great and such a great sounding concert. I remarked to my buddy that he must have real good sound men. I also noticed his Matchless amps. I forget seeing the Vibroking but now that I watch this video, it is right there in between the Matchlesses.
