PA Section Area?

Six String

I know I'm a newbie... but is there a specific section for PA stuff such as mixers, mains, monitors, powered/ non-powered speakers, cords and cables, drivers, PA set up, stereo vs mono, snakes, mics........? Sound persons (politically correct) could find this interesting not to mention those that are doing their own thing.

I have 5 PA mixers that go from 8 Channel to 32 channel and enough cable to prolly wrap around the earth 2 1/2 time, 57's still new in the box. I would think it could be an interesting area....... IMHO

(Of course I have been known to be blind and may have missed it)

I was down there but it seems to be primarily amps. With the name "Room Eleven" I associated it with making sure your amps are always on 11. But I'll check it out again! Thanks!

We're new so the content may be lacking...put a post in there and see if anyone responds...if not I'll get and admin to change the scroll over to include PA's

Other forums seem to over look this area too so it's not a lacking situation... It may not be something needed. But thank you anyway.

Maybe a room for "everything else": brass, woodwinds, violins, cellos...

Even in rock music these all have their niches - think of Ian Anderson or Jerry Goodman.

I agree.

"Front of House" would be a terrific name for a section dealing with sound gear.

Nicely done, Tony!

OK Bea, this is a great idea. Can you help me come up with a title for the room that fits in with the whole room/home/house type of format that we have going? I just created Mic's Room and used up all of my creativity for today.

Mhmm, a bit difficult to find one common category name for all of them. Maybe we should do a bit of brainstorming. The strings are most important in large orchestras. And all the woodwinds and brass instruments have been developed for the large orchestra. Well, most of them.

"The Royal Philharmonic Hall" would meet that, but it entirely lacks the connnection to Rock, Pop and Jazz.

Brass, Silver, Colophone ?
The United Jazz & Rock Ensemble (name of a former mainly German rock jazz big band)
Strings, Wind and More ?

I'm still promoting "The Breezeway."

It captures all wind instruments, but it does sort of leave bowed instruments, like violins and cellos, out.

It may be a lame idea, but how about "The Study" for all those instruments we haven't captured, specifically. 'Cuz, y'know, sooner or later someone with a theramin may show up!

Well previously when we were looking for a name for the amp room, we left it up to y'all to come up with ideas and vote on it. That worked pretty good for Room Eleven. How about we do the same for this new all other instruments room? If someone wants to start a thread with suggestions and start a vote, I'll honor whatever choice that you come up with.
