Agreed it is on the hot side, but shouldn't cause a failure.
When i get this resolved I will back it down some anyway to err on the side of safety.

IIRC I received my Silkyn biased in that ballpark(hot anyway), but the tubes were mismatched enough to bug me. When I swapped in some Mesa labeled STR420 6L6 tubes that I had laying around, I wound up liking the clean channel with them biased just in that 68-70% range. It could have been the change in tubes, and my old habit of shooting for that range(where my Laney has always run best with its EL34 tubes), but that’s where mine seemed happy....until it went poof.

Thanks! My friend is in for a very long painful recovery. I was finally able to speak to him yesterday. Final tally on his injuries;

Shattered femur in his left leg now held together with titanium rods and pins
Collar bone broken in multiple places
Broken Sternum
8 Broken ribs
Several crushed vertebrae

He will be in the hospital a while longer and then transferred to a rehabilitation facility for some time.

I don't think he'll ever be the same and he may never be able to work again, but at least he's alive.

At 58 it will be harder to mend. His job required about 150 miles a day of driving and I don't see him
doing that any time soon.

He is in good spirits and thankful to be here. His wife suffered less traumatic injuries, but she is not in great shape herself...

This is indeed great news. My family will continue to keep him and his wife in our prayers.

So Anyways... I'm taking a vacation from retirement, and gone glamping with the wifey and doggie into the Redwoods by Santa Cruz, Crazyfornia.

What do you all think about hand wound pickups that are wound on the real vintage machines from the 50's with period accurate plastics and wire?
